Hello everyone again on the blog! I already talked about the wonderful properties of yeast, we made face masks with miracle fungi, and today we will apply them to curls. Yeast hair mask at home is easy to prepare and does not require any material costs or tedious search for magical ingredients. But the result exceeds all expectations! So, you - quickly for yeast, but for now I'll tell you what's what.

What are the benefits of homemade yeast hair mask

It would seem that microscopic mushrooms, well, how can they help? For example, no one suggests smearing hair with grated champignons ... But yeast is special mushrooms. They were “domesticated” many centuries ago and have since been used in cooking, brewing, and now in cosmetology. It is not clear who and when first thought of using yeast in this way, but today it is known for certain that:

  • there is more thiamine in yeast than in white bread by as much as 10 times;
  • riboflavin - 2 times, compared with the liver;
  • pyridoxine - ten times more than in meat;
  • folic acid exceeds the concentration in wheat, as much as 20 times!

Vitamins B1 and B2 increase blood circulation, which accelerates the regeneration of the epidermis, increases its tone, and the hair looks more vibrant and healthy. Vitamin B9 performs a protective function, protecting the fragile structure of the hair from the effects of wind, ultraviolet radiation, hot air from a hair dryer and the damaging effects of curling irons, curlers, and “ironing irons”. In addition, yeast contains:

  • tocopherol, which gives shine to curls;
  • biotin, moisturizing overdried strands;
  • amino acids that prevent hair loss;
  • minerals that promote their growth.

Yeast masks will come in handy for all types of hair. They are good to use both as a care product and as a real cure for hair loss, against brittleness and dandruff. What effect can be achieved with regular use?

  • acceleration of hair growth;
  • giving them volume;
  • quality improvement;
  • facilitation of combing;
  • giving shine and smoothness;
  • lack of electrification;
  • getting rid of dandruff.

But that is not all! On the basis of yeast, they quite successfully prepare their own cosmetical tools famous manufacturers. Here and "Recipes of grandmother Agafya", and "Natura Siberika", and "Folk cosmetics No. 1", and "Phytocosmetics". I also came across Korean cosmetics with yeast.

Interesting! Not everyone likes the smell of such a care product, and many are especially concerned about the question of whether it will remain on the hair after washing off. Do not worry! On dried curls, there is no trace of a specific ambergris.

Yeast is also good for the face, I wrote about this recently. For those who missed it, I recommend checking it out.

Basic Rules

Which yeast do you prefer, dry or live? I think the live ones are better, and I like them more (those that are sold in briquettes). The main thing is to look at the expiration date of the product before use, especially if you plan to prepare a dry yeast mask. After all, they are often stored in the kitchen for years. In achieving our goal, the main thing is a quality product.

  1. When preparing a mask for the first time, take a larger dish. Can you imagine what happens to the dough when it ferments? In our case, the mask must also wander.
  2. Do not add too much water to the dry mass, otherwise the finished mask will be quite difficult to apply. It is better to dilute it a little at the end, if necessary.
  3. Water (or other base: milk, kefir, herbal decoctions) must be heated to a temperature of 35-40 ºС. It feels like a comfortable temperature when you don't scald your hand. If the liquid is colder, then the fermentation process will slow down, if it is much hotter, the fungi will die and the result will be reduced to zero.
  4. Before using, leave the finished mixture in a warm place (for example, on a battery) for half an hour so that the yeast “wakes up” and begins to boil. It is advisable to stir it occasionally.

Further use

  1. Distribute the mask first of all over the entire surface of the head, and apply the remaining mass to the hair with a sparse comb. It is better not to use such products on the ends of the hair - they dry out.
  2. How to apply - on dry or wet curls? Many recommend applying to dry. This is extremely inconvenient! It is much easier to distribute the mass over pre-moistened hair. At least spray them with a spray bottle. Even better, first wash your hair with shampoo and dry with a towel.
  3. After application, put on a shower cap or cling film and wrap it on top with a towel to create a bathing effect - yeast loves heat.
  4. How to rinse? No problem, hot water. You can use shampoo if the mask contains oils. And to enhance the effect is good to use lemon juice. Interestingly, the yeast mask itself perfectly cleanses the hair.

Important! When the hair is dry, there is a chance that the yeast mask will dry it out further. In this case, rinse your head with water with the addition of oils, or a decoction of chamomile.

Time and frequency of application

There is no definite answer here. Ladies, turn on your ingenuity and remember that we have one hair and a new one grows for a very long time. A pure traditional yeast mask can be left on the hair even for an hour. If you add any aggressive ingredients, then reduce the time of use.

How many times a week you can do such procedures depends on the effect you want to achieve. If you use yeast exclusively for cosmetic purposes, then once is enough. The course itself can be continued for two to three months. If your goal is therapy, then it is permissible to increase the number of times to 2-3, but then you need to reduce the duration of the course of treatment to three weeks.

Contraindications

And there is nothing for me to write here. It seems that there should be such a point, otherwise you will think that I forgot. I didn’t forget, just a break in a mountain of information, I didn’t find any particular contraindications to the use of such masks for our wild manes.

Just in case, before applying, try the mixture on the delicate skin behind the ear. If it does not burn, then feel free to use it for its intended purpose. Keep in mind that some ingredients (peppers, mustard) give a slight tingle and this is even good, as, for example, in the recipe in this video above. The main thing is that there are no allergic reactions.

Simple and effective recipes

Beauties, rather, we are putting our hair in order, otherwise we have already taken off our hats, and our main decoration after the winter leaves much to be desired. A variety of recipes a lot, because you can add anything to masks with yeast. And I will give a few proven folk recipes with which you can start your acquaintance with yeast masks.

The most effective for intensive nutrition

Unreal mask for hair restoration, works instantly. Mash a piece of yeast briquette 3 × 3 cm in size, mix with warmed honey and give the composition time to ferment. Sometimes it is advised to add milk to the composition of such a mask, but I add a regular egg. Keep the mixture on your hair for 40 minutes to an hour.

Attention! Dry yeast with honey will not melt. First, they must be diluted in water or milk.

If you don't have honey, replace it sugar syrup, although the effect will not be as noticeable.

For fast growth and density

Everyone probably knows that all kinds of spicy seasonings accelerate hair growth. For this, red pepper is often added to masks. I had with this product bad experience, so I do not advise you to use it for our today's purposes, I suggest the option with mustard.

  1. Dilute two full tablespoons of yeast and half as much sugar in half a glass of warmed milk. After the mass ferments, put half a spoon into it mustard powder. Do not keep it on your hair for a long time, half an hour will be more than enough.
  2. The classic kefir-yeast mask, it seems to me, generally solves all problems. It nourishes, gives volume, stimulates growth, and even fights dandruff. Easy to prepare. Pour the yeast with half a glass of kefir heated in a water bath and use as usual. You can add honey and sour cream to the composition (if the hair is dry).

It is good to make these masks with burdock oil. It itself stimulates the hair follicles, and together with yeast gives a great effect.

Interesting! If you add a little cognac to any mask, the amount of dandruff will significantly decrease and the work of the sebaceous glands will return to normal. And by adding a pinch of salt, you will speed up the process of hair growth.

For dry hair

To restore strength and shine to overdried strands, a mask with the addition of oils will help. Combine two tablespoons of olive and castor, add a spoonful of sugar and heat in a water bath. Add diluted yeast to the resulting mixture and use as you would any other yeast mask.

It is good to add vitamins in drops or essential oils to such a remedy. It’s great if you have aloe juice on hand. It's a stimulant plant origin, which will help restore healthy looking hair in a short time.

For oily hair

The secret of this remedy is in the egg white. We prepare an ordinary yeast mask in water or milk and, while the mass is fermenting, we manipulate the egg: we leave the yolk for culinary delights, and beat the protein and add it to the mask. Just wash it off carefully, the protein will curdle from hot water and it will be difficult to wash it off.

Already after the first use, you will forget about greasy strands! It is good to add cinnamon or ginger to such a mask - they also have a drying effect.

Against breakage and split ends

The desired result will help to achieve a yeast mask with gelatin. Have you heard about the popular lamination of hair? So this remedy is its home alternative. Hair will shine, become smooth, and the ends will stop splitting.

Leave a tablespoon of gelatin to swell in half a glass of water, then heat until it is completely dissolved. Add the yeast to the warm (!) mixture and a pinch of sugar for faster fermentation. Further - all according to the usual scenario.

This is perhaps the only yeast mask that is not suitable for adding volume. All the rest cope with this task at once.

For weak and damaged hair

Such a mask is good for recovery after frequent staining, winter blow-drying and summer ultraviolet depletion.

Prepare an egg yolk, mix it with a spoonful of olive oil and a couple of spoons of homemade sour cream. Prepare the yeast mass with milk and honey according to the usual recipe and combine the ingredients. Apply the mixture to the full length of the hair and leave boldly for 40 minutes or a little more.

2 Which yeast is suitable

If you decide to make a mask at home, choose yeast:

  • bakery pressed or in granules (dry);
  • beer (neither can be in tablets or capsules);
  • a special mixture in the form of a cream-colored powder, which, in addition to dry yeast, also contains mustard, cane sugar, milk protein, cornflower extracts, chamomile (sold in pharmacies).
Whichever product you choose, best effect can be achieved if you make a mask when the yeast is fermenting (the mixture increases in size, "rises" and bubbles). And for this you need to know how to properly create conditions for such fermentation.

3 How to make a mask

In order for the yeast to “fit”, they need to be poured with warm (35-40 ° C) water or a decoction of medicinal herbs (nettle is chosen if the curls are dark; chamomile if they are light). In some cases, warm milk is used. The liquid should not be hot, because the fermentation process will not be able to “start”. To, on the contrary, speed it up, the container with yeast can be placed in a bowl of hot (not boiling water!) Water.

When the yeast “rises”, other ingredients are added to them: mustard, olive oil, honey, egg yolk, etc. This gruel is rubbed into the skin, hair roots or strands are “smeared” with it. It is not recommended to touch the dry tips, as there is a risk of further damage to them. Then the hair is hidden under a hat made of polyethylene and “wrapped” with a scarf. Leave for an hour. Wash off the mask with water (it should not be excessively hot), you can use a shampoo suitable for your hair type. The procedure is repeated 1 time per week. If the condition of the curls is not the best, a mask is made every three days.

The therapeutic course lasts no longer than two months. After that, take a short break. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated, or for the purpose of prevention, a yeast mask is done once a month.

4 Recipes

To eliminate the strong smell of onions during the last rinse, add essential oil or Apple vinegar(2 drops or 2 tbsp, respectively).
