Wifi works but... Why doesn't the router distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi. The Internet via wifi has disappeared, but there is a wifi network

Very often I have to answer questions related to various problems that can be observed while connecting to wireless networks. When Wi-Fi does not work on a laptop. It is during the connection process that users encounter many problems. It turns out that the Wi-Fi adapter driver is not installed on the laptop, the question arises of how to enable it, or how to fix the error that appears during the connection process. But even if everything is connected successfully, troubles may await us there too in the form of lack of access to the Internet.

I decided to write one big article in which I will collect solutions to all the most popular problems and errors. The main task is to describe everything in simple language, and analyze all the options point by point, and of course write about solutions. This instruction is suitable for Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7. As a rule, most solutions are no different in different version Windows. As for the laptop itself, there is also not much difference. The tips are suitable for models from ASUS, HP, Lenovo, DEL, DNS, and even for ordinary desktop computers with Wi-Fi adapters.

Based personal experience, comments on other articles, and features of the operating room Windows systems, I have identified 4 main problems that you may encounter when connecting to Wi-Fi on a laptop. I think the problem that brought you to this page fits exactly one of 4 points:

  • First of all, we will figure out what to do if the laptop Wi-Fi does not work due to a complete lack of any settings wireless network when there is no “Wireless Network Connection” or “Wireless Network” connection in the network connections (Windows 10). Also when the Wi-Fi adapter is missing in the device manager.
  • Let's find out why next The laptop does not see the Wi-Fi network. There may be a problem when the connection icon is crossed out with a red cross, the inscription "No available connections". Let's consider different ways, which you can use to enable the wireless network.
  • There are often times when The laptop sees the network, but does not connect to Wi-Fi. An error appears when connecting. Also, here I will include the problem when neighboring networks are displayed, but the laptop does not see the home one Wi-Fi network.
  • Well, let’s not ignore the problem when Wi-Fi is connected, but the internet does not work, but the sites do not open. Typically, a wireless network icon with a yellow exclamation mark and a status of “no Internet access” or “restricted”. True, there are times when there are no errors and everything seems to be fine, but there is still no access to the Internet.

Having described the solution to all these problems, I hope to answer the question in as much detail as possible: “why Wi-Fi doesn’t work on a laptop.” We will consider almost all cases and problems that you may encounter while connecting to wireless networks. To solve various problems and errors that will be discussed in this article, I have already written separate, more detailed instructions. I will provide links to them as I write the article.

Before you go through any settings, I advise you to look at the instructions for connecting to wireless networks: We have one, and a separate one. Especially if you are doing this for the first time. Perhaps they just didn’t understand all the nuances.

If you can’t connect, we’ll figure it out.

Checking the presence of a Wi-Fi adapter and driver

The first thing I recommend doing is checking Wi-Fi work adapter. Make sure it works and the driver is installed. On at this stage there may be two problems:

  • The adapter itself is simply broken (hardware failure). This happens very rarely.
  • And a very popular problem - Wi-Fi adapter driver not installed. Or the installed driver is not working correctly. This happens very often on new laptops, or immediately after installation or reinstallation of Windows. If Windows 10 almost always automatically installs the driver on the wireless adapter (though not always working), then in the previous Windows versions this must be done manually. In one of the articles I already wrote,

To check this, just go to the device manager. It can be found through search. Or press the keyboard shortcut Win+R, enter the command (can be copied) devmgmt.msc, and click Ok.

Immediately open the “Network Adapters” tab. There should be an adapter with "Wireless" or "Wi-Fi" in its name. This is the adapter through which the laptop connects to Wi-Fi. If you have it, then pay attention to the icon next to the name. It should be the same as mine in the screenshot below.

If there is no wireless adapter:

  • If you only have one adapter there, a network card (LAN), and no wireless adapter, then most likely this means that you need to install a driver.
You need to go to the website of your laptop manufacturer and find your model there (most often through search), go to the driver download section and download the driver for the Wireless (WLAN) adapter. Then, run its installation. In this case, the article will be useful to you. And separate.

If you have a wireless adapter, but Wi-Fi does not work:

  • Right-click on it and select "Properties". Pay attention to what will be written in the "Device Status" window. There should be an inscription "The device is working normally."
  • Again, right-click on the adapter and see if there is an "Enable" option there. If there is one, select it. After this everything should work.
  • Try following the steps I wrote about in the article about. You can also try.
  • Try reinstalling the driver (I provided links to instructions above).
  • See other solutions from this article, which I will write about below.

It all starts with the adapter in the device manager. If it is not there, then there will not be a “Wireless Network” adapter in network connections. Also, in Windows 10 and Windows 8 there will be no buttons or sections for Wi-Fi settings.

Turn on Wi-Fi on a laptop

In most cases, all solutions to this problem come down to simply turning on the Wi-Fi module. Because it can simply be disabled. There are several ways to enable a wireless connection. By activating the wireless module with a key combination, or a separate switch on the laptop case, or check and enable Wi-Fi in the Windows settings. Now we will look at all this in detail.

If the wireless network on your laptop is disabled, then most likely the connection icon will look like this (depending on how and where the module is disabled):

In Windows 7 the icon will look a little different, but the meaning is the same.

And first of all, I would probably advise you to try turning on Wi-Fi programmatically. In the operating system settings.

How to do this in Windows 7

In Windows 7, as well as in the “eight” and “ten”, this can be done in network connections. Go to the "Network and Sharing Center". From there we go to “Change adapter settings”. Do not pay attention that the screenshots were taken in Windows 10. In all cases, the steps will be the same.

In the new window, you need to right-click on the “Wireless Network Connection” or “Wireless Network” adapter and select “Enable”.

After that, look at the connection icon (on the notification panel). If a yellow asterisk appears next to it, this means that the laptop sees available networks and can connect to them.

If in the window " Network connections“You don’t have a wireless adapter, then most likely the necessary driver is not installed. You need to install it. You can check this in the device manager. I wrote about this above.

If Wi-Fi does not work on a laptop with Windows 10

A few specific tips for Windows 10: If the Wireless LAN adapter is turned on (see screenshot above), and the laptop still doesn’t see any available networks, then perhaps Wi-Fi is turned off with a button, or in the parameters. Let's check. Just click on the icon in the notification panel and the "Wi-Fi" button (if it's there).

Or in the parameters. In the "Network and Internet" section.

Well, if you have there are no these buttons and tabs in the settings, then see the first section of this article, or separate instructions:.

On Windows 8

First of all, check whether the adapter is enabled in the "Network Connections" window (shown above).

Open Settings. In the "Change computer settings" section, you need to select the "Wireless" tab. Then turn on the wireless network.

We look at the icon with the connection status. The laptop may have already seen available networks.

Turn on the wireless network using the buttons on the laptop

If the methods described above failed to enable the wireless network, then you may be able to do it using hardware. Everything is very simple here. On almost every laptop, to enable and disable the Wi-Fi module, there is a key combination on the keyboard, or a separate switch on the case (rarely, but it happens).

Let's take an example right away. On my ASUS laptop, to turn on Wi-Fi you need to press the key combination Fn+F2. Look like this:

This will always be the Fn key + a key from the F1 - F12 row. Here are the combinations for other laptops:

Dell: Fn + F2, Gigabyte: Fn + F2, HP: Fn + F12, Fujitsu: Fn + F5, Acer: Fn+F3

IN in some cases, this could be a special switch on the laptop case that looks something like this:

Important point: function keys may not work correctly (or not work at all) due to the fact that the corresponding driver is not installed, which is responsible for the operation of these keys.

Here's an example: in Windows 7 I have all the drivers installed from the official ASUS website, and the Fn + F2 key combination actually controls wireless networks. And in Windows 10, I did not install drivers. And when you press Fn + F2, airplane mode is turned on and off.

It is not even the driver, but the utility that is responsible for the operation of the frequency function keys. You can download the utilities in the same section as the drivers. Download strictly for your laptop model and installed Windows. For ASUS laptops, the utility is called "ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities".

I hope that Wi-Fi on your laptop still works and you managed to connect to the required network. And now we will look at the problems that you may encounter during the connection process.

Solving Wi-Fi connection problems

There are several most popular mistakes, which I will discuss below. We will not consider solutions to each problem, since I have already written about them in separate articles. I'll just give you the links.

If the laptop does not see the home Wi-Fi network

Provided that it sees neighboring networks, and other devices see yours home Wi-Fi net. In this case, I advise you to first restart your laptop and Wi-Fi router. Then, you can try in your router settings. Set the static channel, but not higher than 10. You can also change the name of your wireless network in the router settings.

If you have any other problem during the connection process, write about it in the comments. I'll try to suggest something.

If everything is connected, but the Internet does not work

Another trouble that you may encounter after the laptop has successfully connected to the wireless network. Most likely, there will be a yellow exclamation mark next to the connection icon.

Well, and accordingly the connection status is “Limited” or “Without access to the Internet”. There can be a lot of reasons, as well as solutions. I have prepared two separate articles on this issue. The first is for Windows 7, the second is for Windows 10:

  • And a separate article about the problem

In addition, there may be a case when there is no exclamation mark next to the icon, but the sites still do not open in the browser. DNS error. I also wrote about the solution to this problem in the article. At the same time, the Internet may work in some programs. For example, in Skype.

Try running troubleshooting.

Most often, the following error messages appear in diagnostic results:

These errors are relevant for all versions of Windows.

Afterword

The situation itself when Wi-Fi does not work on a laptop is very ambiguous. It is very difficult to collect all the information on such a popular issue in one article. And when the article is very large, it is difficult to understand it. I tried to sort everything out and consider all the most popular cases. I hope you found a solution to your problem.

If nothing works, you can describe your case in the comments. I will try to help with advice. Well, share your solutions and useful information! Best wishes!

Wi-Fi technology is very widely used in life modern man, because it allows you to easily and quickly solve problems with connecting to the Internet without using conventional wires. This is especially true when using laptops, which can be used to access the Internet in any convenient place thanks to the presence of a built-in Wi-Fi adapter.

That is why the situation when Wi-Fi does not work on a laptop leads to significant inconvenience and even some problems. There are many reasons why Wi-Fi may not work on a laptop computer. It is simply unrealistic to solve the most serious of them on your own without the help of specialists, but there are quite a lot of them that can be eliminated on your own. Let's look at them.

Is the problem with your laptop or router?

A fairly common problem that a laptop has stopped connecting to the WiFi network is not a problem with the laptop itself, but with the settings of the router that distributes the network. Thus, the laptop can be configured correctly, but Wi-Fi still does not turn on precisely because it has nothing to connect to.

To rule out the possibility that the problem is related to this, you should try to connect to the network from any other device that is equipped with a Wi-Fi adapter - from another laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.

If Wi-Fi does not work from another gadget, then the problem lies in the Wi-Fi router distributing the Internet. If the connection is successful, the problem is in the laptop and before solving it, you first need to determine why Wi-Fi stopped working.

Hardware enable adapter

Based on such diagnostics, it is possible to accurately determine that this problem arose precisely because of the laptop. When Wi-Fi does not work on it, you can try using several methods.

The first one is to check if the wireless adapter on your laptop is enabled. Almost all modern models have light indicators for the operation of the WiFi module and there are special key combinations to enable it in hardware.

Typically, a lit indicator indicates that the module is turned on. If the indicator does not light up at all or lights up in red, then Wi-Fi is not working precisely because of the wireless network adapter. It must be turned on.

Most often, such indicators are located directly on the keyboard, side or front panel of the device case. Sometimes they are located on the monitor body or near the touchpad.

To enable the module of such a network, press the key combination Fn and one of the system keys F1-F12. The specific combination depends on the laptop manufacturer. Usually, the corresponding antenna icon is located on the desired key. If it is not there, then to turn on Wi-Fi you should try pressing the standard combination for a particular model:
Fn+F3 for Acer;
Fn+F2 for Asus, Dell or Gigabyte;
Fn+F5 on Fujitsu devices;
Fn+F12 on HP laptops.

After pressing the corresponding keys, we check whether the wireless connection module operation indicator lights up or whether it stops glowing red. After this, you should try to connect to the network again. If this does not help, move on to the next step.

Software enablement

When Wi-Fi stops working and turning it on in hardware doesn’t work positive results, you also need to enable it programmatically, which is done directly from the operating system under which the laptop runs.

To programmatically enable WiFi that has stopped working on Windows 7, 8 or 10, you need to perform the following sequence of actions:

1. On the notification panel, which is located near the clock, select the network connection status icon;

2. From the list that opens, select “Network and Sharing Center” or “ Network settings» depending on the operating system version;

3. The next step is “Changing adapter parameters.”

Among the list of all existing connections You need to pay attention to the color of the “Wireless Network Connection” icon. If your WiFi does not work and the wireless adapter is disabled, the connection icon will not be highlighted. In this case, right-click on its icon and select “Enable” from the context menu that opens. The color of the connection icon should change.

In this case, the wireless network adapter turns on, all you have to do is find the one you need in the list of available wireless networks and connect to it.

If, after such actions, Wi-Fi, which has stopped working, continues to be inactive, you need to move on to the next method of solving the problem.

Driver installation and update

Quite often, the wireless Wi-Fi connection does not turn on due to the lack of a driver or when it is very outdated. To determine whether the driver is installed, you need to select “Properties” from the context menu of the “My Computer” icon, which is located on the desktop or in the “Start” menu. Next, in the window that opens, select the “Device Manager” command from the menu on the left.

In the new window that opens with a list of connected devices, you need to find the name of the laptop’s wireless network adapter. Usually its name is “Wireless Network Adapter” or “Wireless Network Adapter”, along with which the device manufacturer should be indicated: Realtek, Atheros, Qualcomm or something else.

Having found the desired item and right-clicking on it, select “Properties” from the context menu. In the window that opens, there should be an item “Device is working normally.” But even if there is a mark about normal operation device, this is far from a guarantee that the correct driver version is installed and Wi-Fi is turned on correctly. To check it, in the window with the properties of the wireless device, go to the “Driver” tab and pay attention to the “Development date” and “Vendor” items.

If the supplier is Microsoft or the program development date is several years behind the current one, go to the official website of the laptop manufacturer and download the latest official version of the driver.

The same should be done if there is no wireless adapter among the list of installed devices.

If the wireless communication module is present in the list of devices, but is marked with a yellow exclamation mark, this means that the device is disabled, as a result of which the network has stopped working. In this case, opening the device properties window, you need to click the “Engage” button.

Another reason why Wi-Fi stopped working on a laptop may be that the energy-saving mode is enabled, which prevents the wireless connection from working. To disable it, you need to do the following:
1. Open Control Panel;
2. Select the “Power Options” icon;

3. In the window that opens, select the “High Performance” or “Balanced” mode.

External obstacles to the signal

It's also worth noting that a broken wireless network can also be the result of more than just laptop problems. The wireless signal depends on some external factors which may weaken it. Ceilings, walls, floors and similar obstacles significantly degrade the signal quality of the access point and laptop.

As you know, the signal quality on a personal computer is displayed in the form of several marks - the more of them, the higher the quality of the signal. If the wireless connection level is displayed as 1 or 2 marks, then you don’t have to try to use WiFi - in this case it will not work properly.

In this case, you need to move the router closer to your workplace, move workplace closer to Wi-Fi router or buy a new, more powerful router.

Other causes of Wi-Fi problems

The causes of problems with the functioning of the wireless network adapter described above are the most common and you can fix them on your own.

It is worth noting that all of these are software solutions to the problem, which can be solved by installing, reinstalling or updating the device driver, as well as performing some operations with the OS.

But often the problem with the operation of the wireless connection module lies in hardware errors. What are these errors? These are problems that are directly related to the board itself, most often due to its physical damage.

To fix such problems, you will need to disassemble the laptop. It is worth noting that such actions can only be performed if you have certain skills in this area. If such skills are missing, it is better to entrust the work to professionals.

One of the most common physical damages is an unconnected antenna wire to the proximity module. This problem occurs with laptops that have been repaired or if their owner independently cleaned the cooling system from dust. In such cases, the antenna is sometimes simply forgotten, as a result of which the adapter will not be able to establish a connection even near the signal source. To fix this problem, you just need to connect its antenna to the Wi-Fi module.

Sometimes the reason that Wi-Fi stops working is the usual overheating of the network card. Most often this is the result of the laptop being placed on some kind of soft surface. The thing is that at the bottom of the device there are holes through which cold air enters, cooling all the computer boards. By blocking these holes, the system will overheat, which can lead to failure of certain components.

Another common cause of device overheating is dust, which can prevent cold air from entering the cooling system.

That is why, in order to avoid such problems, it is recommended to clean the laptop from dust at least once every year: in this case, it will be possible to avoid repairing the laptop as a result of overheating of its components.

In the most extreme cases, the wireless adapter may even burn out. In this case, only replacing it with a new one will help. You can determine this problem using the device manager, in which the module will simply no longer be displayed. When you try to install a driver for a wireless network, a message appears stating that the corresponding device is not installed on the system.

If all else fails

If none of the tips above helped, you can use a simple, but often effective solution: restart both your computer and your wireless router. Please note that after a reboot, the router turns on for up to 5-10 minutes before it starts distributing the network. Be patient. Also, despite the opinion of many skeptics, sometimes the problem diagnostic function found in the Windows operating system helps solve problems with a wireless network.

Thus, the above was listed most of existing solutions problems related to the fact that Wi-Fi stopped working on the laptop. Almost all such methods and recommendations can be used by anyone who is faced with a similar problem, since this does not require any special skills.
If nothing helps, and the wireless network does not start working, there is only one option left - go for help to a quality service center, where they can solve any problems with the laptop.

If the article did not help solve your problem and Wi-Fi still does not work, write in the comments, I will try to help.

If you purchased a laptop, you probably expected that you would use it to access the Internet. However, if your wifi does not work on your laptop, then you will not be able to connect to the network wirelessly. Therefore, if such a problem occurs, it is better to know in advance how to behave in order to quickly resolve the problem.

Checking the router

Before you begin to figure out why Wi-Fi is not working, you need to determine the source of the problem. Try connecting to the wireless network through any other device - smartphone, tablet, game console. If a connection is established on another device, then it is the laptop that has stopped working correctly.

If no device connects to the wireless network, then the cause of the problem should be looked for in the router. First, try to shorten the distance and remove all obstacles between the router and the laptop. Check that the wireless light on the router is on. If the light does not light, check your Wi-Fi settings:

What should I do if the above steps did not help, and the wireless connection still cannot be established or is slow? Call your provider to check if there are any problems on their end. If the operator reports that everything is fine, reset the router settings to factory settings, and then re-establish the connection, having first updated the router firmware.

Laptop problems

If you are convinced that the router is working normally, but there are no connections available on the laptop, then you should check whether wifi module on a laptop. If the module is turned on, the indicator on the front panel of the laptop should light up. If it doesn't work, try turning on the Wi-Fi module manually using the function keys - e.g. Fn+F2. On different models The keyboard shortcut is different; Some models have a hardware wifi button. Carefully inspect the laptop case and find the button with the image of a Wi-Fi signal - click on it to turn on the adapter.

If the Fn button does not work, you can turn on the module using the switch found in the wireless connection settings. On Windows 10, you will need the Network and Internet section, which has a Wi-Fi tab.

If Windows 7 is installed on the laptop, then this method will not work. In this case, you will have to use an external keyboard with the Fn button (or the Windows on-screen keyboard).

Internet settings are reset after reinstalling Windows. If problems arise after installing the system, then you definitely need to check the adapter operating parameters. In addition to hardware enablement of the module, it is necessary to activate it in the system. On all versions of Windows, software activation is carried out according to the same scheme:

If there is no wireless connection or it does not turn on, then you need to check whether the Wi-FI module driver is installed correctly. If the driver is not installed or does not work well, you will not be able to connect to the wireless network.

Checking the Wi-Fi driver

On all laptops, be it Lenovo, HP or any other brand, the Wi-Fi module should appear in the device manager, even if the driver is not installed correctly. To check the wireless module driver, you need to open Device Manager:

  1. Right-click on the “Computer” icon.
  2. Open the Manage tool.
  3. Select "Device Manager" on the left.

In the manager window, you need to open the “Network adapters” section and find the Wi-Fi adapter. There should be no warning signs near it. The properties should indicate that the device is working normally. If everything is installed correctly, but the Internet does not work, you need to try updating the driver.

To avoid compatibility issues, you need to know your laptop model. Armed with this information, go to the manufacturer’s website and download the Wi-Fi adapter software in the “Drivers” section.

Other Possible Causes of the Problem

If connection problems occur after cleaning the laptop, then you need to check that the Wi-Fi module is installed in its place. Sometimes users who disassemble a laptop for the first time for cleaning make careless movements - for example, when removing the display, they touch the antenna of the wireless communication module. Therefore, if the problem occurs after cleaning the laptop, you should disassemble the device again and carefully check that the Wi-Fi module is in place and connected properly.

Sometimes resetting the BIOS helps. Why an error suddenly appears in the basic I/O system is difficult to say. But to exclude this option, go to the “Exit” tab in the BIOS and select “Load Setup Defaults”. Be sure to save your changes by pressing F10 and then "Y".

Another problem is when you cannot connect to the router, although there is a connection. When trying to set up a connection to an access point, the message “ Windows was unable to connect to...».

Typically, the cause of this error is a mismatch between the network parameters in the system and the router. Simply put, the network name or password has been changed in the router settings, and you are trying to connect using the old values. To resolve the problem, you need to remove the access point and update the list of connections.

These are the main reasons why a laptop does not connect to Wi-Fi. If none of the methods help, it makes sense to contact a service center - this may be the cause of incorrect operation Wi-Fi module is a hardware failure that cannot be fixed on your own.

A huge number of people use it. It is both convenient and very easy. But no matter how simple the connection through this type connection, situations are still possible when WiFi does not work. And in order to restore the network, it is necessary to find the causes of the problems, which will be discussed.

Does not work WiFi due to the fault of the transmitter

A transmitter can be called a WiFi device to which other devices are connected - a WiFi modem, a WiFi access point, etc. Naturally, if this equipment stops broadcasting, then the end devices will also not work.

It is easy to determine the functionality of the WiFi transmitter - you need to go to the section where your equipment connects to the network. Both on phones, tablets, smartphones, and on any modern computers that support such a connection, this section should display the name of your WiFi network. This will make it clear whether your transmitter is working.

However, situations often occur that there may be several networks in the area. How do you know if yours is on the list? It’s very easy - just turn off the equipment and update the list - if one of the names disappears, it means it was your network. Now turn on the WiFi transmitter and update the list again. If a new name appears, it means this is your network.

So we figured out whether your device broadcasts radio. But if, when you click on the inscription, a connection occurs, but WiFi does not work (still), what should you do? This is a completely different question. Now we understand for sure that the WiFi network actually works, but if there is no Internet, this is already a matter of the settings of the transmitter itself (if the problem is its fault). The following situations may be to blame:

  • The WiFi transmitter is not configured or configured incorrectly.
  • The Internet is completely blocked on your device by viruses, antivirus, a non-working Proxy server, or an Internet provider (for technical reasons).
  • You need to pay for internet.

To resolve some of the above problems, you need due diligence, which not everyone can do, but a call to the Internet provider’s office is enough to get started.

Does not work WiFi due to the fault of the end device

Very often, the reason for the inoperability of a WiFi network is the user himself or his equipment. If WiFi does not work on the end device, you should pay attention to the following:

Unfortunately, it is impossible to give all the reasons within one article. But in order for an ordinary user to find out why WiFi does not work, this fundamental knowledge is enough, which should give the reader basic concepts from which to build on in the future.

Very often, users complain that their router on their computer does not work. What could be the reasons this phenomenon? How to deal with them? Understanding all this is not as easy as it seems. After all, a computer is a technique with which various problems arise. And often finding the cause of a particular breakdown can be very problematic. You have to go through all possible options. And after that, find out the cause of the breakdown. So why might the router refuse to work? What scenarios are possible?

WiFi

So, the first arrangement is not so rare. But the situation can be corrected very quickly, even without having any additional knowledge in the field computer equipment. True, this option is usually relevant for laptops. This problem usually does not occur on desktop computers. The user wondered why the router is not working?

Then it's time to check if Wi-Fi is turned on on your laptop? The light next to which the antenna is shown should be on. If this phenomenon does not occur, you will need to turn on Wi-Fi. And then connect to the Internet. Now there will be no problem. Only often the router refuses to work for completely different reasons. Which ones exactly? What should you pay attention to?

Wires

It all depends on the situation. What to do if the router on the computer does not work? It is on a stationary model, and not on a laptop. Although a similar problem may also arise with second gadgets.

If it refuses to work, you should generally check its connection to the computer. In the case of laptops, often, as already mentioned, there is no enabled Wi-Fi function. But with desktop computers everything is much simpler.

The reason for the modem not working may be that it is not connected to system unit the wire. Sometimes it is recommended to simply remove and reinsert the plug with the wire leading from the router to the PC. This helps very often.

Damage

The next scenario is not very easy to detect. The previously listed methods are corrected in a matter of minutes. And it’s much easier to find them, the main thing is to be careful.

Why doesn't the router work? The whole issue may be damaged wires connected to the device. IN in this case There is only one thing left - replacing the cables. And nothing more. But the problem is that under such circumstances it is difficult to independently detect damage (except for obvious damage).

Malfunctions

But that's not all. In reality, there are a lot of options for the development of events. Is your TP-Link router not working? What could be the problem? For example, if we are talking about an old modem, you should check its functionality. It may be that the Internet connection equipment itself is faulty.

Often it is possible to fix the router. But such a device will not be able to work for a long time. Therefore, the most logical way out of the situation would be to buy a new modem and then connect it.

On average, a router can last about 2.5-3 years without any problems, provided permanent job. If you give the device a few minutes to rest at least once a day, you can extend its life to 5 years. If after this period problems begin, most likely it is a malfunction of the equipment that is the problem. The situation can be resolved without any problems. It is advisable to choose a router that is similar to the previous one.

Accident

Does your D-Link or any other router not work? Why does this happen? The reasons may vary. And not always everything depends only on the user. The fact is that in some cases it may turn out that the provider himself is to blame.

What is it about? Internet access is provided using certain equipment and transmission lines. All this tends to wear out and break over time. Therefore, accidents cannot be ruled out at providers’ stations. And during these periods, users experience no access to the Network, and the no-signal light on the modem is on.

Doesn't work or any other? It's time to call your provider and find out if there are any outages on the line. Don't forget that you will have to give your home address. If an accident or breakdown occurs, you do not need to do anything. Just wait. Access to the Network will return only after all problems on the line have been resolved.

Engineering works
