In 1953, the Central Union of Consumer Societies of the USSR (Tsentrosoyuz) decided to build a cooperative technical school in Minsk.
In August 1957, admission of students to the Minsk Cooperative Technical School of the Belkoopsoyuz was announced.
November 1, 1960 On the basis of the correspondence department of the technical school, the Republican Correspondence Cooperative Technical School was opened, which functioned until 1968.
In 1962, a training and consultation center began operating for students of the Moscow Cooperative Institute at the technical school, which operated until 1968.
In 1968, a vocational school for training personnel in mass professions was opened at the technical school.
In 1993, the technical school and college were merged into the Minsk educational and production complex “PTU-Technical School” of the Belkoopsoyuz.
In 2000, the educational and production complex was reorganized into the educational institution “Minsk Trade College” of the Belkoopsoyuz.

The Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation is a higher educational institution of the Belkoopsoyuz, equal in status to state university. The structure of the university includes the rector's office, three faculties of full-time education, two faculties of part-time education, and an institute for advanced training and retraining of personnel. The university trains specialists in 11 specialties and 17 economic specializations. About 9,000 students study at the university at a time.

The Belarusian State Economic University, being the country's leading institution of higher education in economics, is constantly developing and searching for effective forms and methods of teaching. Infrastructure
The infrastructure of the educational and scientific complex of BSEU consists of 11 faculties, 49 departments, the Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Economic Personnel, the Institute for Master's Training, branches: Minsk Trade College, Minsk Finance and Economics College, Novogrudok Trade and Economics College; library, campus, sports and shopping complexes.
The science
The high scientific potential of the university, its modern research base, allows us to ensure high-quality implementation scientific research and train highly qualified scientific workers. At BSEU, 5 dissertation defense councils have been created and are successfully operating, in which 138 dissertations (12 doctoral and 126 candidate dissertations) have been defended over the past five years.
There are 10 scientific and pedagogical schools under the leadership of famous scientists; three journals and a collection of scientific papers are published, included in the list of scientific publications of the Republic of Belarus for publishing the results of dissertation research; 28 student research laboratories are successfully operating. In order to support the innovative activity of students, the implementation of the best scientific projects and ideas, a student research center “Business Incubator BSEU” was created.
International activity
The university is a member of international organizations and associations. Together with foreign partners, international projects are annually implemented within the framework of the ERASMUS program and DAAD academic exchanges.
Today, BSEU has concluded 136 contracts and cooperation agreements with institutions of higher education, research and educational organizations from 23 countries of the near and far abroad.
Graduates
Over the years of its existence, the university has trained more than 165 thousand qualified specialists, including academicians, ministers, prominent statesmen, big businessmen.
