The difference in percentage between the values of some vehicle characteristics and their average values

The history of this compact German crossover from Volkswagen began at the end of 2006, when the Tiguan Concept concept car was presented at an exhibition in Los Angeles. The commercial vehicle was first revealed to the world in the fall of 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and a few months later it entered full-fledged production.

In 2011, at the Geneva Motor Show, the German company held the official premiere of the updated Tiguan. The SUV has noticeably “matured” in appearance, becoming very similar to the “older” Touareg, and has been transformed inside. New engines were placed in the engine compartment of the “German”, power was added to existing variants, and the range of transmissions was diluted with a 7-band “robot”.

Visually, the first generation Volkswagen Tiguan looks attractive and discreet, without any pretentious curves or lines. The front part of the crossover is very similar to that of the more “luxury” Touareg - an arrogant look, emphasized by LED daytime running light inserts, a signature radiator grille with chrome slats and a raised bumper (the latter, by the way, is available in three versions - “sporty”, “ urban" and "off-road" - which brings noticeable variety to its appearance).

The silhouette of the car is endowed with no less status than the “face” - correct proportions, “swollen” wheel arches of a rounded square shape and large rims with a diameter of 16-18 inches. The tail of the Volkswagen Tiguan is topped with a neat trunk lid, beautiful lights with an L-shaped “pattern” and dual exhaust pipes integrated into the bumper.

The total length of the “first Tiguan” is 4426 mm (versions with an “off-road” bumper are 7 mm longer), its height is 1703 mm, and its width reaches 1809 mm (including exterior mirrors - 2041 mm). A 200-mm clearance separates the bottom of the SUV from the road surface.

The corporate style of the German brand is visible in every detail of the Tiguan's interior - uncompromising classics, as well as rigor and clarity of lines, dominate inside. At the same time, the car’s decoration does not look boring at all - a laconic instrument panel with a multifunctional “window” for the on-board computer, a three-spoke steering wheel, supplemented in expensive versions with control elements, and a neat front panel. The center console is crowned with blocks of a factory audio system (in “top” versions it gives way to a color display of the multimedia system) and a dual-zone climate control system.

Inside the Volkswagen Tiguan, high-quality plastics with pleasant textures are used, diluted with silver metal decor. For SUV seats, “clothing” is available from high-quality fabrics, or a combination of fabric, leather and Alcantara trim.
The front seats of the Volkswagen Tiguan have a comfortable profile and a wide range of settings; they only lack more developed lateral support rollers. The rear sofa is spacious for three passengers, can move on a “sled” and has an adjustable backrest. In addition to this, “gallery” riders are offered the maximum range of amenities - folding tables, individual climate system deflectors, cup holders and a 12-volt outlet.

The rectangular cargo compartment of the compact crossover is spacious in volume (470 liters in standard condition) and trimmed with fleecy material. The back of the second row folds in unequal parts into a flat surface, as a result of which the useful volume increases to 1510 liters. There is an organizer for small items in the underground, but there wasn’t enough space for a full-size spare tire.

Specifications. Before the 2011 update, the 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan for the Russian market was equipped with two gasoline engines of 1.4 and 2.0 liters, generating 150 and 170 horsepower (240 and 280 Nm of peak thrust), as well as a 2.0-liter diesel turbo-four with a return of 140 “horses” and 320 Nm.
They were combined with 6-speed gearboxes (“manual” or “automatic”) and an all-wheel drive system.

After restyling, the SUV not only retained the same engines, but also received three new options. The gasoline palette includes four types of power units:

  • The basic installation on the Tiguan is a 1.4-liter “four” with direct injection and turbocharging, developing 122 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1500-4000 rpm.
    In tandem with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive, it accelerates the crossover to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, accelerates to a maximum of 185 km/h and consumes an average of 5.5 liters of fuel in mixed mode.
  • More productive cars are equipped with the same engine, but with two turbochargers, thanks to which its output is increased to 150 “mares” at 5800 rpm and 240 Nm of thrust, realized at 1750-4000 rpm.
    There are two gearboxes - a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed robotic DSG, and the same number of drive types - front-wheel drive or permanent all-wheel drive. The characteristics of this Volkswagen Tiguan are as follows: acceleration to the first “hundred” in 9.6 seconds, top speed of 192 km/h and fuel “appetite” from 7.1 to 8 liters.
  • Behind it in the hierarchy is a 2.0-liter turbo unit with direct injection, available in two boost levels - 170 “horses” at 4300-6000 rpm and 280 Nm at 1700-4200 rpm, or 200 forces at 5100-6000 rpm. minute and 280 Nm at 1700-5000 rpm.
    Their partner, in addition to all-wheel drive, is a 6-speed automatic transmission. Such “ligaments” allow the crossover to “shoot” from zero to 100 km/h in 8.5-9.9 seconds and peak at 197-207 km/h. The rated fuel consumption in combined mode is 9.9 liters.
  • The “top” installation is a “direct” engine with a pair of 2.0-liter turbochargers with a capacity of 210 horsepower (at 5100-6000 rpm), the output of which reaches 320 Nm at 1700-5000 rpm.
    It is equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission and a 7-speed robot, providing a maximum speed of 213 km/h and reaching the first three-digit figure on the speedometer in 7.3 seconds. For every “hundred” of travel in the combined cycle, the crossover consumes 8.6 liters of fuel.

  • The “first” Volkswagen Tiguan is equipped with a 2.0-liter in-line diesel “turbo-four” generating 140 “horses” at 4200 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm. It is assisted by an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. After 10.7 seconds, the SUV leaves 100 km/h behind and reaches a maximum of 182 km/h, while “consuming” an average of 7 liters of diesel fuel.

The 4Motion all-wheel drive on the Volkswagen Tiguan is implemented using a Haldex multi-plate electro-hydraulic clutch that delivers torque to the rear axle. Under normal conditions, 90% of the traction goes to the front wheels, but if necessary, up to 100% can be transferred to the rear.

The 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan is based on the front-wheel drive PQ35 platform. The car has an independent MacPherson-type suspension at the front and a multi-link architecture at the rear.
Optionally, the SUV is equipped with an adaptive DCC chassis with three operating modes.
The rack and pinion steering mechanism is equipped with an electromechanical power steering with variable characteristics, and disc brakes (ventilated on the front ones) and a whole set of safety systems (ABS, EDS, ESP and others) are mounted on all wheels.

Options and prices. On the Russian market in 2016, the first generation Tiguan is sold in the following versions - Trend&Fun, Club, Track&Field, Sport&Style and Track&Style.
The initial configuration of the crossover is priced at 1,119,000 rubles, and includes heated front seats, front and side airbags, a standard eight-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, ABS, EDS, ASR and ESP systems, electric windows on all doors. and other equipment.
The most expensive option costs from 1,750,000 rubles, and it “flaunts” (in addition to the above options) bi-xenon head optics, cruise, multimedia installation, navigator, keyless engine start system, rain and light sensors, combined interior trim and much more to others.

The 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan crossover (restyling 2011) is based on the platform of the compact Golf Plus minivan. In Europe, the car is offered with seven power plants: four petrol and three diesel. There are fewer engines on the Russian market, and the cars themselves are assembled at a plant in Kaluga. The Tiguan engine line consists only of high-performance turbo units, which allows the model to demonstrate good dynamic characteristics, supported by excellent handling.

Domestic motorists are offered the following engines to choose from:

  • 1.4 TSI 122 hp, 200 Nm;
  • 1.4 TSI 150 hp, 240 Nm;
  • 2.0 TSI 180 hp, 280 Nm;
  • 2.0 TSI 210 hp, 280 Nm.

Crossovers equipped with 1.4-liter units are available in front-wheel drive. Initial engine 122 hp. It is equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the 150-horsepower engine is paired with a 6-speed DSG robot. Volkswagen Tiguan modifications with 2.0-liter TSI have greater “off-road” potential, as they have a 4Motion all-wheel drive transmission. The gearboxes available for the 2.0 TSI are a 6-speed automatic from Aisin and a 7DSG robot with two clutches.

The ground clearance of the Tiguan SUV is 200 mm. For fans of off-road forays, a special version of Track&Field has been prepared, which, along with all-wheel drive, is equipped with a front bumper cut from the bottom, which significantly increases the approach angle (from 18 to 28 degrees). There is also a functional Off-Road mode, which adjusts the operation of the engine and gearbox for driving on very rugged terrain.

If we talk about fuel efficiency, then the Tiguan with the base 1.4 TSI 122 hp engine saves the best gasoline. and 6 manual transmission. This version consumes on average about 6.5 liters per 100 km. A slightly more voracious car with a 150-horsepower engine and DSG – 7.1 l./100 km. Fuel consumption of a Volkswagen Tiguan with the most powerful 2.0 TSI turbo-four is around 8.4-8.7 liters.
