This is what they look like. I'll say - the little animals were unlucky - first of all, someone thought of calling it the same terrible disease, and secondly, people eat crayfish. There are not that many muscles inside the shell, and therefore, in order to get seriously full, you need a lot of crayfish. So it turns out that when you search for “cancer,” you get photographs of either terrible ulcers or mountains of red boiled crayfish. No matter where you throw it, it’s all a wedge.
But at least you and I have found people who are interested in living crayfish from a visual point of view, and that’s good.
And let's move on to the first lesson - how to draw a crayfish. Moreover, we will draw as in the first two photographs - along the course of the animal’s life, and not straightened out as for a herbarium, although this option is better for understanding the structure of cancer, but I prefer the image in a natural pose.
Let's draw a cancer step by step
We start with a pencil sketch. This preliminary sketch will give us almost a complete idea of what the desired result will be.
If you are still learning to draw, then under no circumstances neglect the sketch. Do not immediately start “white drawing” and even with contour lines - it is difficult and unreliable. Work according to the classics. And only after making sure that the draft is good, move on to the drawing. First, we draw an oval torso - the head and chest of the crayfish are connected to form the cephalothorax:
But this is a top view - if this crayfish were turned over, then on each segment of the abdomen we would see a pair of two-branched swimming limbs. And when the crayfish swims, it rows with them, and bends its abdomen under itself, moving BACKWARDS.
According to the scientific classification, crayfish belong to the decapod crayfish, these are the legs we will now draw - four pairs of them are walking legs:
The head ends with a sharp spike on the sides of which there are eyes. Moreover, as you probably know, the eyes of crayfish are stalked - retractable. We also see long mustaches and jaws on the head. The fifth pair of crayfish limbs is grasping -at the end there are powerful claws very reminiscent of a gas key:

The topic of this lesson is "How to draw a crayfish." The crayfish is somewhat similar to a scorpion, only it has large claws and a short tail, and, of course, the crayfish is larger. Drawing a crayfish is quite difficult; it has many legs, mustaches, and its body, covered with a chitinous body, consists of segments. But if you draw the primary contours correctly, draw crayfish It will be easy step by step. It is not necessary to draw only with a pencil; in the last step, you can color the drawing with colored pencils, coloring the crayfish dark green.
1. Primary contour of the body and claws
It will be a little difficult to draw the primary outline. Start with the shape of the crayfish's head, then draw two claws, and then draw a slightly curved line for the tail. Note that the outline of the right claw is slightly larger than the left.
2. General outline of the body, tail and claws
This may seem like a difficult step. It's actually quite simple. First draw the tail of the crayfish, then draw out the head and a small segment connecting the tail with the body with lines. Now you need to draw the thickened shape of both paws with claws.
3. Small paws and eyes
The pattern of cancer is gradually beginning to “appear.” Now you need to draw two eyes, two small front legs and four legs on each side of the crayfish. Remove the extra contour lines from the drawing and now you can say that this is a real crayfish.
4. Drawing of a crayfish in detail
This drawing step will probably be difficult because you will have to draw a lot of small details. Start by drawing the side legs of the crayfish first. Its legs consist of segments, the connections of which can be depicted in the form of circles. Now draw the two front small legs and the initial outlines of the whiskers. And only after that start drawing the most complex element - the tail of the crayfish, consisting of several segments. Remove excess outlines from the drawing.
5. The final stage of the drawing
First finish drawing the tail and draw the long mustache of the crayfish folded down the back. At this stage, pay all your attention to the claws. This is the main element of the drawing, so draw them in detail, focusing on my drawing. If you are coloring with colored pencils or paints, you won't need the next step because cancer drawing completely completed.
6. How to draw a crayfish with a pencil. Shadows
The crayfish drawing will look “professional” if you color it with a soft pencil. Determine which side the light will fall from and make the places where the light falls less dark and vice versa. To draw a crayfish more realistically, you can additionally draw an underwater river landscape.

The base, that is, the body of the animal. It is shaped like a beer bottle with a narrow neck. The bottom can be drawn with transverse stripes, or you can draw 6 ellipses, closely connected to each other and becoming narrower towards the end. Draw the shell in three semicircles and draw the tail as 4 curved lines, half an oval with a sharp end.
Detailing. Draw in the whiskers (just a little jagged line at the front) and add the claws. We depict them as a semicircle consisting of parallel lines. The claw itself needs to be divided.
We continue to detail. All that's left is to add the legs. There are four of them on each side. The topmost ones should also be crowned with small claws. The rest are sharp ends.
Color it (if it is boiled, then red or pinkish-orange).
A funny example
Having mastered the simple version, we will learn how to draw a crayfish with a pencil. This time we should get an almost cartoon character. Children love these very much.
Let's sketch out the base. These are two unfinished semicircles, the lower one is smaller, the upper one is larger. It does not have an upper part, but here we depict two circles. These are the eyes. At the bottom of the same figure we draw a curved line - this is the mouth. There are two uneven lines of paws on the sides.
Let's go into detail. In two circles we draw the eyelids and pupils. We add several more ovals to the lower semicircle, and finish the legs with claws. At the very bottom of the body we assign a triangle and divide it into two parts. This is a tail and its lower edge is uneven. The same teeth should be on the claws.
Add antennae on the head (two obtuse angles) and paws: four on each side.
Realistic drawing
Having mastered the two previous diagrams, we will learn how to draw a crayfish for children. This picture looks complicated, but in reality there is just a lot of detail. And they are all quite easy to perform.
First, let's draw the body of a freshwater animal. We depict a rectangle with rounded corners and a slightly tapering front part. So we put two bold dots on the eyes. At the very tip we add two antennae. On the sides we add the largest mustaches in the form of obtuse angles. The ends should be pointed.
Add the neck and tail. For the neck we draw 8 uneven rectangles. We crown them with a tail with rounded and smooth lines.
All that remains is to add large claws (to begin with, draw two ellipses to the body. Add the next two on top and in the center of their upper part write two sharp corners. Remove the upper part of the ovals with an eraser), draw two rows of checkmarks on the body. Let's add the paws: these are right angles consisting of two parallel lines.
Simple option
We hope you understand how easy it is to draw a crayfish. Then try another option.
Body and head. Let's start with the eyes. These are two circles tightly adjacent to each other without lower parts. Place a dot in the middle of them. The muzzle is an ellipse, pointed at the front, divided by a broken line. Attach claws to both sides of it. We draw mustaches in front of our eyes (yes, right before our eyes).
Adding a body. We attach a tail consisting of parallel curved lines to the ellipse, divide it into segments, and end with three slightly elongated ellipses. We also draw legs on the body, this time triangular and also pointed. We outline with a thick marker.
We color the animal (the whole body, except for the eyes, is red).
As you can see, drawing a crayfish is not as scary as it is painted. And it can also turn out to be so funny that the claws aren’t so scary.
