Discharge after Pharmatex. Pharmatex: detailed instructions for use After Pharmatex

Name: Pharmatex

Indications for use:
Pharmatex is especially indicated for women who have absolute or temporary contraindications to the use of more effective methods of contraception (hormonal and intrauterine contraception). It is recommended to use Pharmatex for women after childbirth, nursing mothers, after abortion, in the late reproductive period and before, as well as with irregular sexual activity.

Pharmatex can be used as an additional remedy for other types of contraception:
In combination with an intrauterine contraceptive (spiral);
In combination with a condom, diaphragm, cervical cap - to enhance the contraceptive effect and reduce the likelihood of contracting sexually transmitted diseases;
In case of violation of the regularity of taking oral hormonal contraceptives (missing or being late in taking a pill).

Pharmachologic effect:
(Pharmatex) has a damaging effect on sperm membranes (spermicidal effect), which leads to their destruction and the impossibility of fertilization. Complete destruction of sperm when entering the environment with Pharmatex occurs within 20 seconds. On average, one dose of the product is designed to neutralize the sperm contained in one ejaculate. Therefore, repeated sexual intercourse requires the introduction of a new dose of the product.
In addition to the spermicidal effect, Pharmatex, in laboratory tests, showed antimicrobial activity against the pathogens of gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, type II, as well as against Staphylococcus aureus. The drug is inactive against mycoplasma infection, and is also inactive against the pathogens of gardnerellosis, candidiasis and syphilis.

Studies confirming the same activity of benzalkonium chloride in a living organism show a slightly lower antiseptic effect. However, when combined with a condom, the risk of sexually transmitted diseases is reduced.

The drug does not change the normal microbial picture of the vagina, and also does not affect a woman’s menstrual cycle.

The use of the Pharmatex product during pregnancy did not reveal any harmful effects on the growth and development of the fetus, as well as on the course of pregnancy.

Pharmacokinetics:
Pharmatex is not absorbed by the vaginal epithelium. It is absorbed only on the vaginal walls and is eliminated by simple washing with water and normal physiological secretions.

Pharmatex method of administration and dosage:
Vaginal suppositories
One suppository, freed from the shell, is inserted into the vagina at least five minutes before sexual intercourse, and remains active for either four hours or until sperm enters the vagina. Once the sperm enters the vagina, the effect of the product ends, and repeated intercourse requires the reintroduction of a new vaginal suppository. It is preferable to administer suppositories in a horizontal position.

Vaginal tablets
Before insertion into the vagina, the tablet is moistened with plain water and administered at least ten minutes before sexual intercourse. Pharmatex tablets remain active for three hours or until sperm enters the vagina. If the act is repeated, a new dose of the product must be administered.

Vaginal capsules
The vaginal capsule is inserted deep into the vagina, the effect occurs within 8-10 minutes. after insertion and lasts 4 hours; upon repeated sexual intercourse, the vaginal capsule must be reintroduced.

Vaginal cream
It is inserted into the vagina using an applicator, and begins its action instantly, and remains active for up to 10 hours. In case of repeated acts, repeated administration of the product is necessary. It is preferable to administer the cream while in a horizontal position.

Tampon
The vaginal tampon is removed from the membrane and inserted into the vagina using your fingers until it comes into contact with the cervix. The spermicidal effect of the tampon begins immediately after its insertion and lasts up to twenty-four hours. The tampon remains effective during several (up to 3) sexual acts, but not more than a day.
After 24 hours from the moment of insertion, the tampon should be removed. It is important to remember that bathing and swimming reduce the spermicidal activity of the tampon. Removing the tampon occurs more easily and physiologically in the squatting position.

Pharmatex contraindications:
First of all, a contraindication to the use of local contraceptives, including Pharmatex, is high susceptibility to its chemical components. The second important contraindication is diseases of the external genital organs, vulva and vagina, especially accompanied by damage to the inner lining of the vagina: injuries, ruptures, inflammatory diseases with the formation of erosions and ulcers.

It is not recommended to use the Pharmatex product when carrying out any local vaginal therapy with the use of other medicinal products, since the destruction and disappearance of the spermicidal activity of benzalkonium chloride is possible.

Pharmatex side effects:
The drug is not absorbed into the blood and has no general effect on the body, with the exception of allergic reactions in people with increased sensitivity to benzalkonium chloride. The possibility of side effects from the product is minimal if the product is used at the recommended dosage.

Release form:
Vaginal tablets are available in blister packs of 12 pieces. One tablet contains 20 mg of active ingredient;
Vaginal suppositories are available in plastic shells, 10 pcs. in a pack. One suppository contains 18.9 milligrams of active ingredient;

Synonyms:
Indicin extra, Benzalkonium chloride, Nika-2, Micro 10+, benzalkonium chloride.

Storage conditions:
In a cool place.

Additionally:
It is important to remember that the use of alkaline detergents - soap and soda - destroys Benzalkonium chloride, which leads to the ineffectiveness of Pharmatex. In this regard, the use of soap and soda for two hours before or after sexual intercourse is contraindicated. For hygiene of the external genitalia, it is recommended to use Farmatex intimate hygiene product or plain water.

Douching or swimming in ponds for four hours when using a Pharmatex suppository, tablet, capsule or cream is also contraindicated. Using the Farmatex tampon involves avoiding swimming and bathing for the entire time the tampon is in the vagina, so as not to reduce its spermicidal effect.

The product is used regardless of the day of the menstrual cycle; it is necessary to take into account the frequency and duration of action of each form.

    Even the ancient Greeks used local contraceptives to prevent unwanted pregnancy. In this regard, they were less fortunate than you and me. Some essential oils were used as a local contraceptive and applied to the cervix. It's hard to say how effective this method can be.

    Are you having trouble finding the right contraceptives for you? Some are difficult to use, others can be harmful to health, others are a hassle, and others completely destroy all the pleasure of sex. So what should you choose? It would also be nice if the product protected not only from pregnancy, but also from infection with sexually transmitted diseases. There is such a remedy. Read all the details about this wonderful invention below.
    The main active ingredient of these tampons is benzalkonium chloride, which is a surfactant spermicide.

    Pharmatex preparations are suitable for both young girls and more experienced women. These contraceptives are approved for use by nursing mothers, immediately after childbirth or artificial termination of pregnancy. Conditions of use vary somewhat depending on what form of the drug you are dealing with. Different types have different periods of action, different potencies, and different possible side effects.

    To purchase drugs from the Pharmatex series, you do not need a special medical permission. They do not have any harmful effects on the body. There are no restrictions on the use of these drugs, that is, they can be used for the rest of your life. To increase contraceptive effectiveness, it is allowed to be used in tandem with barrier agents. If a woman experiences vaginal dryness during sexual intercourse, then some drugs in this series can solve this problem. It is also possible to use them as a fire method of preventing unwanted pregnancy.

    If you use Pharmatex cream, be sure to rinse it thoroughly before each use. When washing after sexual intercourse, use a special product, since ordinary soap destroys the active substance.

    In some women, Pharmatex products may cause individual reactions. If you are prone to allergies or have very sensitive skin, use the drug with caution for the first time. Read the instructions for the drug very carefully and follow the instructions exactly. Do not under any circumstances try to save the drug; use exactly as much as you should.

    The effectiveness of using the drug Pharmatex strongly depends on strict adherence to the rules:
    – systematic use of the drug before each sexual intercourse;
    – administer the drug in a supine position to the maximum possible depth;
    - wait until the drug is completely dissolved in the vagina (at least 10 minutes) so that the active substance is completely released;
    – before each sexual intercourse, introduce a new (unused) tablet (dose of cream, vaginal suppository);
    – it is not recommended to wash the genitals with soapy water for 2 hours before and 2 hours after sexual intercourse, since soap has a destructive effect on the active substance benzalkonium chloride;
    – immediately after sexual intercourse, only external washing of the genitals is allowed with clean water that does not contain soap. Before vaginal irrigation, it is recommended to wait 2 hours after coitus;
    – since the active ingredient of the drug is benzalkonium chloride, it is recommended to discontinue its use if any intravaginal diseases occur;
    – if there is a need to treat vaginal diseases or prescribe any other drug intravaginally, it is recommended to wait until complete healing occurs before using Farmatex.
    Due to low systemic absorption, overdose is practically excluded. To date, the symptoms of overdose are unknown.

    All local contraceptives produced today fulfill the following conditions: they must not pose a threat to human health, they must have a good contraceptive effect, and their use must not cause difficulties.

    Products under the Pharmatex brand fully satisfy these requirements. The main active ingredient in these drugs is benzalkonium chloride, which combines antimicrobial and contraceptive properties. It treats internal organs with care, does not disturb the bacterial balance, and does not enter the bloodstream.

    The manufacturer presents a wide selection of different drugs of the same direction of action. What is the fundamental difference?
    This is a different level of vaginal hydration during the use of drugs. Just a few years ago, there was an opinion among doctors that suppositories are the most convenient type of local contraceptives, regardless of individual physiological characteristics, they are comfortable to use. But surveys were conducted in which it turned out that in a number of women the suppositories moisturized the genitals too much and in this case it was recommended to switch to Farmatex tablets. This is the main criterion by which you should choose the type of drug. This effect is most pronounced in creams, suppositories moisturize moderately, and tablets do not have this ability at all.
    If you do not take this data into account, then during sexual intercourse the partner will be distracted by unpleasant phenomena.

    In addition, when choosing a contraceptive, you should take into account the fact that for the contraceptive effect to begin, you should wait ten minutes when using tablets, and five minutes when using suppositories. For some women this may be uncomfortable. Then we advise you to purchase Farmatex cream or tampon.

    Externally, a 10% solution of Pharmatex is diluted with distilled water until it turns into a 1% solution, gauze, cotton wool or tampons are moistened in it and applied to the open injury every day. The paste is applied at the rate of 0.2-0.4 grams per square centimeter of the open part of the wound, obviously washed from purulent discharge and dead tissue, or a gauze cloth soaked in the preparation is applied. The largest amount of the drug per day is 50 grams. Dressings are carried out regularly every day; course of therapy - 14 days.
    Vaginally as a contraceptive - suppositories: horizontally, lying on your back, the suppository is immersed into the vagina to the maximum depth 5-6 minutes before sexual intercourse; The duration of the contraceptive effect is 4 hours.
    Tablets: horizontally, lying on your back, the tablet is immersed in the vagina to the maximum depth 10-12 minutes before sexual intercourse; duration of effect - 3 hours.
    Cream: immersed in the vagina using a dispenser, preferably in a vertical position of the body; the effect is achieved immediately and lasts for 10 hours. It is necessary to use the following capsule, tablet or dosed amount of cream in case of repeated sexual intercourse.
    Tampon: Place your middle finger in the middle of the flat area. Opening the outer labia with the other hand, place the tampon as deep as possible into the vagina, until it touches the cervix. The effect appears immediately and lasts throughout the day. At this time, there is no need to change the tampon even if sexual intercourse is repeated. It is recommended to remove the tampon no earlier than three hours after sexual intercourse and no later than 24 hours after its insertion.

    Spermicides are contraceptives in the form of pastes, suppositories or tablets. The active substance destructs the surface of sperm or interferes with their motor activity.
    Pharmatex is produced in the form of suppositories, creams, tablets and tampons. In addition to the contraceptive effect, it destroys the causative agents of many sexually transmitted diseases. Suppositories are effective for four hours. The cream is active for up to ten hours, the same period of validity for tampons. The tablets protect against unwanted pregnancy for three hours. It is important to remember that a pill, suppository or tampon only protects during one sexual encounter.

    What are the pros and cons of this method of protection?
    In addition to the contraceptive effect, such drugs usually protect against several types of sexually transmitted infections.
    Such drugs help cope with inflammation of the internal genital organs.
    Among the negative factors, it is necessary to note first of all the low contraceptive effectiveness. According to statistics, out of a hundred cases of using such drugs, from twenty to thirty end in unwanted pregnancy. Moreover, in case of conception, it is necessary to artificially terminate the pregnancy, since the drugs included in the contraceptive have a negative effect on the embryo.

    It is advisable to use another method of protection together with drugs of this group, for example, conventional
    If a woman suffers from vaginal dryness, then she will find it more pleasant to use Pharmatex in the form of a cream or suppository. If there are no such problems, then you can choose any form of the drug.

    You can choose a form that is convenient for you based on the duration of action. So, the tablet must be administered ten minutes before sexual intercourse, and its activity lasts three hours, the suppositories must be administered five minutes before, the activity lasts four hours. Pharmatex cream begins to protect a woman immediately after administration, its effect lasts up to ten hours. But the sponge can stay in a woman’s body for a whole day. And throughout this time it protects against fertilization.

    This drug is completely safe for a woman’s body. It does not provoke obesity, temperament swings or any other unpleasant sensations.

    In addition to the contraceptive effect, this drug has the ability to protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
    The main active ingredient of Pharmatex is benzalkonium chloride, which has a destructive effect on the structure of sperm, which reduces the likelihood of pregnancy.
    The medicine is not absorbed by the vaginal mucosa and does not enter the bloodstream, but remains inside the vagina and then comes out along with vaginal discharge. The active substance does not pass into breast milk, is not teratogenic to the fetus, and this makes it possible to use the medicine during pregnancy and lactation.
    Contraindications:
    - hypersensitivity to the components of the drug
    - colpitis
    - irritation of the vaginal mucosa, irritation in the cervical area.
    Possible side effects (burning, itching). If allergic reactions are detected, it is recommended to discontinue use of this drug.
    When using the drug, it is not recommended to wash with soapy water, because of which the drug loses its effectiveness. Pharmatex is not used together with other intravaginal drugs.

    Pharmatex is not a 100% contraceptive method. Pearl index (this is the number of pregnancies occurring per 100 women per year) = 1.2.
    100% (PI=0) protection against unwanted pregnancy is possible only with complete abstinence and approaches this indicator with the method of surgical sterilization.

    Pharmatex is both a spermicide and an antiseptic. The spermicidal effect is due to the ability of the active substance to destroy the membranes of sperm (first flagella, then heads), which leads to the impossibility of fertilization of the egg by damaged sperm.

    Therefore, the use of Pharmatex will not affect the child in any way.

    Pharmatex can be used after unprotected sexual intercourse. Pharmatex does not protect against HIV infection.
    Contraceptive effectiveness when used immediately after sexual intercourse is 10-15%

    Benzalkonium chloride is not absorbed by the vaginal mucosa. It is absorbed only on the surface of the vaginal walls and is then excreted through normal physiological secretions or eliminated.
    Yellow discharge may be associated with an inflammatory process in the vagina.
    In this case, you need to undergo an examination by a gynecologist.

    The use of Pharmatex significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy, but does not eliminate it completely. 100% (PI=0) protection against unwanted pregnancy is possible only with complete abstinence and approaches this indicator with the method of surgical sterilization.

    The likelihood of pregnancy with this method of contraception is significantly lower than with separate use. 100% (PI=0) protection against unwanted pregnancy is possible only with complete abstinence and approaches this indicator with the method of surgical sterilization.

    Studies have shown that benzalkonium chloride does not penetrate into the blood.
    Breastfeeding: since the absence of penetration of the active substance into the blood and breast milk has been proven, the use of this spermicide during breastfeeding does not pose any danger.

    Pharmatex can be used after childbirth.

    Benzalkonium chloride is both a spermicide and an antiseptic. The active substance destroys sperm membranes.

    The destruction of sperm occurs in two stages: first, destruction of the flagellum, then rupture of the head, which makes fertilization impossible.

    The use of Pharmatex significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy, but does not eliminate it completely.

    Since Pharmatex contains benzalkonium chloride, it is necessary to interrupt its use if any vaginal diseases occur or their exacerbation occurs.

    If there is a need to treat vaginal diseases and/or prescribe any other medication vaginally, you must wait until the end of treatment before resuming (starting) contraception with Pharmatex.

    The effectiveness of all forms is the same. The shape is selected based on the woman’s vaginal secretion.

    In vitro, the drug is effective against many pathogens that cause sexually transmitted diseases, especially gonococcus, chlamydia, herpes virus type 2, Trichomonas vaginalis, Staphylococcus aureus.
    The drug has no effect on mycoplasmas and has little effect on Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans, Hamophilus ducrey and Treponema pallidum.

    Insert into the vagina.
    In a lying position, the suppository is inserted deep into the vagina no later than 5 minutes before sexual intercourse.
    The duration of action of the drug is 4 hours. Be sure to introduce a new suppository before each repeated sexual intercourse.

    Single dose: one suppository is designed for one sexual act. The frequency of use is limited by individual tolerance of the active substance and the frequency of sexual intercourse.
    It is possible to use Farmatex in conjunction with a vaginal diaphragm or IUD.

    The effectiveness of contraception is associated solely with strict adherence to the rules of its use.
    Apply systematically before each sexual intercourse.
    Insert the suppository so that it penetrates as deeply as possible into the vagina,
    preferably in a lying position.
    Wait for the suppository to completely dissolve in the vagina for at least 5 minutes so that the active substance is completely released.
    Be sure to introduce a new suppository before each repeated sexual intercourse.
    It is prohibited to use soap for toileting the genitals 2 hours before sexual intercourse and within 2 hours after sexual intercourse, because soap, even in residual quantities, destroys the active ingredient of Farmatex.
    Immediately after sexual intercourse, only external toilet of the genital organs is possible only with clean water. Before doing vaginal irrigation, you should wait for 2 hours after sexual intercourse.
    With Pharmatex inserted into the vagina, you should not take baths, swim in the sea, pools or ponds due to the risk of reducing subsequent contraceptive effect.

    The use of Pharmatex significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy, but does not eliminate it completely.

    Clinical effectiveness is determined by the adjusted Pearl index, which is 1.2 (75-80%), if the drug is used correctly.

    pharmachologic effect

    The drug has a damaging effect on the cell membranes of sperm, as a result of which they die. Complete destruction of male germ cells when released into the environment with the medicine occurs within 20-30 seconds. One dose of the pharmacological agent is designed to neutralize the sperm contained in one ejaculate, therefore, for repeated sexual intercourse, it is necessary to use the drug additionally.

    According to laboratory and clinical studies, Pharmatex exhibits significant antimicrobial activity against pathogens of infectious diseases such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis. In addition, the active component of the drug has a detrimental effect against Staphylococcus aureus. The medicine is inactive against mycoplasma infections and the causative agents of gardnerellosis.

    Indications for use

    The contraceptive is indicated for use by women who have relative or absolute contraindications to the use of systemic methods of contraception. It is recommended to use the medication in the early postpartum period, during pregnancy, nursing mothers, in the late reproductive period, before menopause or during irregular sexual activity. Pharmatex can be used as an additional contraceptive along with other types of contraception.

    Directions for use and dosage

    The contraceptive drug Pharmatex is used topically or orally, depending on the form of release of the drug. Before and after using the drug, you should take a shower and wash yourself thoroughly to prevent the negative effect of the product on the microflora of the vaginal mucosa, the occurrence of irritation and itching. Remember that spermicidal contraception does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. The medicine must be prescribed by the attending physician.

    It is recommended to insert the vaginal suppository while lying on your back. The suppository must be inserted deep into the vagina no later than 5-7 minutes before sexual intercourse. The duration of action of the drug is approximately 3-4 hours. Before each subsequent sexual intercourse, a new suppository must be introduced, otherwise the reliability of the contraceptive is significantly reduced.

    Pharmatex cream

    Before using vaginal cream, you must install a special dispenser at the end of the tube, then fill it completely so that no air bubbles form. Disconnect the dosing device from the tube. Introduce the cream 7-10 minutes before sexual intercourse deep into the vagina. It is recommended to administer the spermicidal cream while lying down. The protective effect of the medicine lasts 10 hours.

    Capsules

    While lying on your back, the spermicidal capsule is inserted deep into the vagina no later than 10-15 minutes before sexual intercourse. The duration of action of the contraceptive is at least 4 hours. It is necessary to introduce a new capsule before each repeated sexual intercourse. Due to the oily texture of the drug, it is not recommended to use capsules simultaneously with a condom.

    Pharmatex tablets

    Before use, the tablet must be moistened with warm water for 20-30 seconds. Then the drug should be injected deep into the vagina at least 20-30 minutes before sexual intercourse. The drug remains active for 3 hours or until sperm enters the vagina. With each subsequent sexual intercourse, a new dose of medication is required.

    Pharmatex tampons

    Before inserting a spermicidal tampon, you must remove it from its protective packaging. For proper insertion, place your middle finger in the center of a flat surface. Having spread the labia of the vulva, it is necessary to insert the tampon deep into the vagina, until it comes into contact with the cervix. The protective effect of the drug occurs after 5 minutes and continues throughout the day. During the application period, the tampon should not be removed; washing can be done with warm water without soap.

    Drug interactions

    Concomitant use with other pharmacological agents intended for intravaginal use is not recommended. Any drug introduced into the vagina can significantly reduce the local spermicidal effect of Pharmatex. Solutions of iodine (including 0.1% iodonate), chlorhexidine, or contratex inactivate the medication.

    Side effects and overdose

    When using Farmatex according to the indications and instructions, the risk of side effects is minimal, but women with hypersensitivity to the main active ingredient of the drug, benzalkonium chloride, may develop allergic reactions in the form of itching and burning in the vagina, painful urination. Pharmatex (benzalkonium chloride 50% aqueous solution) is a vaginal contraceptive with a spermicidal effect. It has high spermicidal and disinfectant activity, as well as ease of use. Once in the vagina, benzalkonium chloride combines with the mucous membrane, covering it with a continuous protective film. It only takes a few seconds to immobilize and destroy the sperm. The spermicidal effect of benzalkonium chloride is four times greater than that of nonoxynol-9. In addition, this substance is an antiseptic and exhibits bactericidal activity against microorganisms that transmit sexually transmitted infections. The drug has no effect on saprophytic vaginal microflora. Does not have a systemic effect. Non-toxic, because does not penetrate into the blood. Quickly and irreversibly destroys sperm, separating the head from the flagellum. The unidirectional movement of benzalkonium chloride molecules ensures the integrity of the protective film covering the mucous membrane. The mucus produced by the cervix is transparent and has a viscous and viscous consistency. Benzalkonium chloride makes it a thick, jelly-like substance that acts as a natural barrier to sperm entering the uterus. After 10 seconds from the moment of instillation of the drug into the vagina, it is impossible to detect a single viable sperm. The drug acts in the same way on bacteria and viruses: it breaks their membranes and causes cell lysis. Benzalkonium chloride is active against staphylococci, streptococci, coliform bacteria, enterobacteria, chlamydia, gardnerella, neisseria, treponema, trichomonas, herpes simplex virus, HIV, etc.

    d. Weakly active or inactive against candida, Haemophilus influenzae, and mycoplasmas. It has no effect on normal microflora. The drug does not penetrate the uterine cavity, does not pass through the vaginal epithelium, and does not have a teratogenic effect, which is confirmed by many clinical trials (a total of 18 studies were conducted in Western Europe, Canada and the USA). The active component of the drug is easily removed from the vagina by regular rinsing and along with urine and other physiological secretions. Pharmatex can be used as a priority contraceptive:

    If taking oral contraceptives or using an intrauterine device is contraindicated for some reason;

    In the period after the birth of the child;

    During breastfeeding (since the drug does not pass into breast milk and does not have systemic effects);

    In teenagers;

    With rare sexual intercourse, when there is no need for regular contraception using oral contraceptives;

    In women over 40 years of age;

    With an increased risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections.

    Available in the form of vaginal capsules, tablets, suppositories and cream. The effectiveness of the contraceptive effect of Farmatex depends on the implementation of the recommendations set out in the instructions for use.

    The effect develops 10 minutes after insertion into the vagina.

    In vitro, the drug is active against Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Herpes simplex type 2, Staphylococcus aureus.

    Weakly active against Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans, Haemophilus ducreyi and Treponema pallidum.

    Not active against Mycoplasma spp.

    Does not affect the normal microflora of the vagina (including Doderlein's bacillus) and the hormonal cycle.

    Pharmacokinetics

    Benzalkonium chloride is not absorbed by the vaginal mucosa. It can be removed by simple rinsing with water and normal physiological secretions.

Lying on your back, insert the cream deep into the vagina using a dispenser, slowly pressing the plunger. Duration of action - 10 hours. Be sure to administer a new dose of cream before each repeated sexual intercourse. 1 dose (5 g of cream) is designed for one sexual act.

    Overdose

    No cases of overdose have been reported.

    Interaction

    Concomitant use with medications administered vaginally is not recommended. Any drug introduced into the vagina can inactivate the local spermicidal effect of Pharmatex.

    Iodine solutions (including 0.1% iodonate solution) inactivate the drug.

    Soap and solutions containing it can reduce the spermicidal effect of the drug. You should not irrigate the vagina before and after sexual intercourse, because soap, even traces of it, destroys the active substance.

    Side effects

    Allergic reactions: contact dermatitis, itching and burning in the vagina and/or penis of the partner, painful urination. If they occur, stop using Pharmatex.

    Benzalkonium chloride is not excreted in breast milk; the drug can be used during lactation.

    special instructions

    The effectiveness of contraception is associated solely with strict adherence to the rules of its use:

    • insert the capsule (tablet, suppository, cream) so that the selected dosage form penetrates as deeply as possible into the vagina, preferably in a lying position;
    • wait for the capsule or tablet to completely dissolve in the vagina for at least 10 minutes, for the suppository for at least 5 minutes, so that the active substance is completely released;
    • be sure to introduce a new capsule (tablet, dose of cream, suppository) before each repeated sexual intercourse;
    • It is prohibited to use soap for toileting the genitals 2 hours before sexual intercourse and for 2 hours after sexual intercourse, because soap, even in residual quantities, destroys the active ingredient of Farmatex;
    • immediately after sexual intercourse, external toilet of the genital organs is possible only with clean water or with the help of a foaming product called Pharmatex, which does not contain soap, which contains benzalkonium chloride; vaginal irrigation is carried out 2 hours after sexual intercourse;
    • with Pharmatex inserted into the vagina, you should not take baths, swim in the sea, pool or reservoirs due to the risk of reducing the subsequent contraceptive effect;
    • since Pharmatex contains benzalkonium chloride, it is necessary to interrupt its use if any vaginal diseases occur or their exacerbation;
    • if there is a need to treat vaginal diseases and/or prescribe any other vaginal medication, you must wait until the end of treatment before resuming (starting) contraception with Pharmatex.
