Delicious meat cutlets with millet, fried in a frying pan. Millet porridge with meat in a slow cooker Millet porridge with minced meat

Crumbly millet porridge, and even with tender, aromatic meat, is a very tasty and satisfying dish. But it will be like this only if you prepare the cereal correctly.

Millet is considered the most contaminated grain, so it must be sorted. After this, pour in warm water, shake well, let stand for 5 minutes and drain off all the debris that has floated to the surface. Then the cereal must be thoroughly washed again in warm water. You can repeat this procedure 2-3 more times, because even a small amount of mulch (flour dust) will make the porridge sticky.

It is known that during storage, fat appears on the surface of the grains, which can give the finished porridge a bitter taste. That is why, before cooking, the cereal must also be washed in hot water to dissolve and wash off this fat.

In general, it will take a little time to prepare the millet, and household appliances will help do the rest. When cooking, strictly adhere to the cooking technology, and then you will get delicious millet with meat in a slow cooker. I will use the PHILIPS HD3036 multicooker in this recipe.

Wash the pork thoroughly, let it dry slightly and cut into small pieces. Sort the millet, remove small impurities (pebbles, low-quality grains), and then, rubbing with your hand, rinse thoroughly in warm water. After this, rinse the cereal again, but in hot water (about 95 °C).

Wash the carrots, peel them and grate them on a coarse grater (you can use a Korean carrot grater). Peel the onions, wash and cut lengthwise into 4 parts, and then thinly chop each quarter crosswise.

Pour vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl and add the onions and carrots. Using the “Menu” buttons, select and set the “Frying” mode, press the “Start” button and with the lid open, sauté the vegetables until soft, stirring constantly (it will take about 5 minutes).

Add the meat pieces to the vegetables.

Fry everything together while stirring for another 7-8 minutes. Then turn off the multicooker by pressing the “Off/Heat” button.

Pour hot water into the bowl, add spices and salt to taste.

Close the multicooker, use the necessary buttons to switch it to the “Stew” mode and cook for about 25–30 minutes. Unplug your kitchen assistant again.

Place the prepared millet into a bowl.

And in the end I would like to give you some useful advice. As we said above, millet cereals begin to taste bitter over time. Try not to buy millet for future use, and in the store always pay attention to the packaging and packing date. Optimally, cereal can be stored for no more than 4 months, after which it ages and acquires a not very good taste.

Rinse the millet well, add 700 ml of cold water, put on the fire, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cook the millet from the moment of boiling for 15-20 minutes under the lid, stirring occasionally. The water should completely evaporate, and the millet should turn out crumbly.

Add oil to a wok or high-sided frying pan. Peel the onion, chop finely, add to the pan and fry in oil, stirring, until golden brown.
Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater. Add the carrots to the frying pan with the onions and fry for 5 minutes over medium heat, remembering to stir.

Then add the minced meat and fry it with the vegetables until cooked, remembering to break up the lumps. I fried the minced meat for 15 minutes. At the end, add salt and a pinch of any seasoning.

Mix millet porridge with minced meat and vegetables well. Add garlic, passed through a press, and chopped herbs. I just added garlic and herb butter. Simmer the porridge for 5 minutes under the lid, then remove from heat and let it brew for 10 minutes under the lid.
