What to feed a baby at 1 month. Proper rations for feeding monthly puppies. Baby always wants to eat

From birth, your baby begins to learn about the world around him. And it is you, his parents, who help him learn more and more new and interesting things. With your help, the child feels love, care, affection, tenderness. A newly born baby has a whole set of basic reflexes. These are plantar, sucking and grasping reflexes, in addition, vision and hearing develop from the very first days of life. Gradually, the baby begins to focus his attention on various objects, he follows the movements of your hands and reacts to loud sounds. Very soon, your baby will begin to distinguish your voices. At this time, you need to start accustoming him to the time of eating. So it is appropriate on the site www ..

Monthly baby routine
In the first month of life, the baby's daily routine depends only on when and how many times he sleeps and eats. In the first month, you do not need to follow the feeding regimen in the sense that this is a regimen. Let the one-month-old baby eat when he needs to, night and day. He sleeps all the time between feedings. His wake time is only 15 minutes.

In the second half of the first month of life, begin to teach the child to distinguish between day and night. To do this, when you feed him at night, do not turn on the light, do not make noise. Let him, by your behavior, begin to understand that when it is dark, that is, at night you need to sleep.

Diet plan for a one month old baby
First, a child needs to be fed about six times a day. The time between feedings should be three hours. Sometimes you can feed even more often.
Secondly, the periods of wakefulness of the child in the first month of life are about fifteen minutes, by the end of the first month this time will increase to an hour.

Baby food per month
Nature itself made sure that in the first months after birth, the child was ideally fed. Indeed, after all, breast milk is the ideal food for a baby who has just been born. Such milk is not only better absorbed by the child's body, but also specially adapted to the specifics of the baby's digestive system. Breast milk contains all the nutrients your baby needs. And with the increase in the need of the child's body for this product, the amount of breast milk also changes. In a month, the child is completely breastfed.

But, unfortunately, not all mothers have breast milk. In his absence, the child eats milk mixtures. Artificial feeding fully satisfies all the needs of the growing body of the child.

The main thing when choosing a mixture for a child is that the child should not be allergic to the mixture, it should be perfectly absorbed by the child's body and not cause problems with stools and skin rashes. In addition, a suitable mixture is sure to ensure regular weight gain.

If the baby is breastfeeding, then you do not need to supplement it with water, since everything you need is in breast milk. The mother herself must make sure that the child receives the calcium, vitamins, and trace elements necessary for the body. To do this, she must eat right. The menu must include dairy products, cottage cheese and cheese, as well as meat products, vegetables and, of course, fruits. In order for the child not to have diathesis, the mother must follow a diet that excludes those foods that can cause allergies in the child.

The amount of milk needed for a baby at 1 month
When a baby is just born, his appetite is not very large and he needs a little colostrum. But by the month the need for milk increases. In the event that you do not feed the child according to a strict regimen, and when he asks, your baby himself will tell you what he wants to eat. If the child is not hungry, then he is calm and contented, sleeps well and, while awake, examines the objects around him. If you are worried about whether your baby is hungry or full, then use a simple formula to calculate the nutrition of a child at the age of 1 month. This formula is pretty simple. Up to two months, the baby should receive a seventh of the milk from its weight. So, if a child weighs three and a half kilograms, then he should drink about half a liter of milk per day.

Monitoring the nutrition of a child in one month
In order to control the nutrition of a one-month-old baby, weigh your baby before and after feeding, without changing the clothes in which he is. If the indicators are lower than the standard ones, but the baby feels good, you should not overfeed him, because everything is in perfect order with him.

If the mother does not have enough milk
If the baby is malnourished due to the fact that the mother does not have enough breast milk, then it is worth supplementing the baby with artificial mixtures. But here it is very important not to harm the child's body, which means that you should definitely monitor the baby's reaction to this or that mixture.

In addition to dry mixtures, such as Nutrilak, Frisolak, Humana-1, liquid fermented milk mixtures can be given to the child. This is Agu-1 and a mixture of Malyutka.
Rules to be observed with mixed or artificial feeding of a child at 1 month
Formulas based on cow's milk should be given to the baby in smaller quantities than breast milk itself.
Be sure to follow the instructions for the preparation of dry mixes.
In order to prepare the mixture, only boiled or filtered water should be used.
If your child is formula-fed or supplement-fed, be sure to give him some water. The amount of water given to the child per day should be at least 50 - 100 milliliters.

How to feed a baby at 1 month?
If you are feeding your baby from a pacifier, holding him in your arms is the best position. This way you maintain close contact between you and your baby.
Make sure the nipple is full of milk at all times. Otherwise, the baby may swallow air.
The hole in the nipple should be ideal for the baby: not too small and not too big so that the milk can flow normally to the baby.
The baby should drink his portion of milk in about fifteen to twenty minutes.

The long-awaited months of waiting are over - a child has been born. To make it easier for him to adapt to a new extrauterine life, a child's regimen of 1 month should be observed. At this period of life, the baby needs special care, which includes standard procedures. And if the same actions are repeated day after day at the same time, the child will know what to expect. And it will be easier for parents to plan their day this way.

Daily routine of a child in one month

We adults live according to a well-planned schedule: getting up, driving to work, lunch, returning home, dinner, sleeping ... And again, everything is in a circle, from Monday to Friday. Such a mode of life helps not to forget anything, to be in time for everything and allows you to always know in advance what to expect. So it is with a newborn child: in order for all things to go on as usual, you need to plan the day according to a certain routine. What does the daily routine of a 1 month old baby consist of?

The main stages of the regimen for a baby in 1 month are:

  • Feeding;
  • wakefulness;
  • hygiene procedures;
  • Walks.

About 18-20 hours are spent on sleep in the first month of a child's life. Feeding occurs on demand or about 6-8 times a day and 1-2 times a night. By simple mathematical calculations, you can guess that the child is awake very little - 4-6 hours a day. During this time, you need to have time to talk with the baby, wash him. Walks are usually combined with daytime sleep.

Morning starts...

Usually the morning for mom and baby starts at 6 o'clock. It is necessary to wash the child after a night's sleep. Wipe his face with a cotton pad soaked in warm water. Rinse the eyes from the outer corner to the inner and the auricles without going inside. If necessary, clean the nose with a turunda.

Then at 6:30 you need to feed the child and put to bed by 7:00. The child sleeps for about 2-3 hours. Then (about 9-10 hours) comes wakefulness. It lasts about half an hour - at this time you can play with the baby, talk, sing a song. Then comes feeding and sleep again - and so the whole day.

At first, the baby will live on its own regime. But the routine of a 1-month-old baby needs to be gradually brought into the system. For the sake of this, you should not specifically wake up the baby when it's time to eat, or wait for the time for feeding. Mom needs to be flexible, listen to the baby, but try to stick to the schedule.

How much and when should a baby eat at 1 month of age

Children's doctors advise organizing a child's diet on demand. Many young mothers in the first week after the birth of a baby hear the following phrase from pediatricians: "The child should be at the mother's breast 24 hours a day." You should not take these words literally - the baby should sleep in his own crib, but the rest of the time you need to feed the baby when he wishes. This phrase sounds especially relevant for primiparous women who should establish breastfeeding.

25-30 years ago, women fed their children according to a strict schedule. Whether the child cried, whether he threw tantrums - they waited for the right hour for feeding. Many mothers today practice this approach to feeding. However, on-demand feeding is valuable because the mother's body adapts to the needs of the child for milk and produces as much milk as needed. This "setting" occurs in the first months of breastfeeding.

Before feeding, the child is briefly laid out on the tummy. It should be remembered that when feeding, not only milk, but also air enters the baby's stomach. In order for him to come out, it is necessary to hold the baby in an upright position after eating until he burps. This is necessary for the prevention of colic.

Sun, air and water - walking and swimming

Walks are extremely important for the baby, so they must be present in the child's mode at 1 month. At a minimum, you need to walk with your child once a day. In summer, the walk can be from 20 minutes to several hours. In winter, depending on the weather, no more than an hour, but no less than 10 minutes.

It is better to spend in the evening, taking advantage of the next interval of his wakefulness. Bathe monthly children in a special bath in boiled water. You can add a little dissolved potassium permanganate or a decoction of herbs (chamomile, string) to it. Water temperature + 37°С.

Mom's affectionate attitude and goodwill in every action will help the baby learn to trust. Thus, each procedure will cause only joy in the child. And the habit of the regime will allow you to guess what will happen next. May every day start with a smile and be filled with happiness!

Many people, having adopted a small fluffy lump, do not know how to feed a one-month-old kitten without a cat, how to play with it and take care of it. Of course, the best option for a newly-minted pet is mother's milk, and any more or less knowledgeable person will say that it is impossible to separate an animal from its mother at such a young age.

A kitten at 1 month is still not strong enough for an independent life, its immunity is still too weak, and most of the habits that ensure the healthy life of the baby should be instilled by the mother cat. But cases in which the question - how to feed kittens without a cat, becomes relevant still happen, and it becomes necessary to feed the baby with your own efforts. Well, let's look at the rules for feeding a one-month-old kitten and find out all the useful information related to this issue, taking into account the nuances, including the safety of the health and life of a small creature.

To feed a kitten for 1 month, according to all the canons, you must adhere to the rules:

  • do not feed the baby with minced meat;
  • add vitamins to the kitten's diet;
  • do not give poultry meat until the crumb begins to chew on beef meat;
  • to control the pet's reaction to unfamiliar foods, new foods should be given gradually, one food per day.

If the crumbs need to be accustomed to dry food, this should be done as follows: soak a small amount of food in boiled water. Then spread the resulting porridge across the sky of the kitten. Repeat this procedure several times, soaking the food a little less each time. Repeat the procedure until the pet begins to gnaw on the food on its own.

Dairy products

For a kitten, a life span of one month is not enough and, like any baby, he needs milk mixtures. To compensate for the need for this healthy product, boiled milk with a small amount of honey is excellent (a small spoon per glass is enough). If we talk about priorities when choosing a dairy product, then it is better to stop the choice on cream (fat content 8%). If possible, it would be nice if you pamper your baby with goat's milk or some fermented milk product:

  • fermented baked milk;
  • kefir;
  • yogurt and more.

solid foods

Solid foods like porridge, cheese, should be introduced into the diet of a kitten at 1 month little by little and gradually. Be sure to give your baby plenty of water. It is best if you take semolina porridge as the basis of solid nutrition.

Then you can add some curd to it. After that, the kitten can be treated with a boiled egg, but not all, but only the yolk. An egg should be given a couple of times a week. It will be better if you pre-knead it, and not feed the crumbs in pieces. The same applies to the next product - meat and fish. They should also be cut into small strips. Any solid product can also be mixed with porridge. According to the rules of feeding a kitten, fish should be given no more than once every 5-7 days, while it is better to boil it or cut it very finely. It is not recommended to give salted and smoked fish to kittens at the age of one month.

Set vegetables and fruits as a separate item.

Vitamins and fiber

The crumbs can and should be fed with foods containing many vitamins:

  • apples;
  • cucumbers;
  • all kinds of greens.

In order for the pet to successfully cope with the proposed delicacy, the product will need to be grated. Once a week, you can feed your baby with soup without any seasonings. It makes sense to give vegetables and fruits only occasionally - 1-2 times a week and a little bit.

In general, these are the main provisions regarding how to feed kittens without a cat. If you follow at least some of the recommendations and give your baby vitamins, then the pet will develop in the right direction and delight you with good health and a good appetite.

How to teach a month old kitten to eat on its own?

So we touched on one of the main questions regarding the care of a monthly kitten - how and when you need to teach him to eat on his own and it will take time to complete this procedure. A kitten usually starts to show interest in a saucer at the age of three weeks. At this time, he is more interested in the process of eating food by adult animals than in the food itself.

But in any case, three weeks of age is the best period to start teaching a kitten to eat on its own.

You should start with milk. To do this, pour milk into a cat saucer, then dip your finger in it and let the baby lick it. The cub will quickly realize that this is a very tasty delicacy and will reach for the bowl himself. After this, the kitten can already be poked with its muzzle into the milk, but the main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the baby may get scared or choke. After the kitten licks its face several times, you can try to give it freedom of movement. Most likely, the pet will reach for the saucer on its own, and after a short hitch, nature will take its toll and it will begin to lap. If the first attempt was not successful, the procedure should be repeated.

At first, the baby can snort and even sneeze - this is normal, because he is just learning. Another kitten can get carried away and climb right into the cup with its paws, such moments need to be stopped and the animal returned to its normal position for eating. To do this, remove the baby's limbs from the saucer and wipe them. If the situation repeats, hold the animal, letting him know that this cannot be done. Then such incidents will stop.

Be attentive and patient with your little animal, and in a few days the kitten will begin to eat on its own. In general, in this matter, age is not of fundamental importance, the most important thing here is to show patience and diligence. When the kitten begins to feed itself, do not rush to stuff it with raw meat and potatoes. After all, the nutrition of a kitten from 1 to 3 months should be planned taking into account its unformed body, and for the best result, it is better to allow the pet to gradually recognize other foods than milk.

Diet for monthly kittens

Which diet is best for a one-month-old kitten - dry food or natural food? This is a complex question, and there has been a lot of debate in cat breeder circles over the years about the benefits of certain types of feeding.

Of course, if we take food as a basis, in which the manufacturer has laid everything that the baby needs for health: vitamins, trace elements and other useful additives, then it will be nice if you feed a one-month-old kitten with just such food. In addition, the owner of the animal is freed from many of the conventions that appear in people who feed the crumbs with homemade food. And from the point of view of veterinarians, balanced feeding is useful for the full development of the pet. But is dry food suitable for your kitten, and does it contain everything that the manufacturer promises. Yes, maybe you just raised more than one generation of kittens on healthy homemade food, and do not trust suspicious dry pieces. Situations are different, so we will analyze both options, and which one is suitable for your kitten, you will choose on your own. But in any case, you should remember the main important rules:

  1. Let's call the first rule - "either-or". It means that if you started feeding a monthly kitten with natural products, then you do not need to add dry food to his diet. After all, different foods are digested differently. In addition, a kitten that consumes dry food drinks much more liquid than a pet that eats exclusively natural products. Therefore, if you want to save the animal from troubles like gastroenteritis, coprostasis and other gastrointestinal troubles, then follow the first rule.
  2. Further, is it possible to feed a monthly kitten with different foods - it’s better not to. If you have chosen a certain brand of food for the crumbs, then stop there. After all, each brand has its own distinctive features and certain components. If the food is mixed or changed, then there is a high risk that the kitten will get certain problems associated with the level of calcium or, for example, a strange picture of amino acids. Digestive problems are also not ruled out.
  3. The last basic rule is to buy the right food. You do not need to take the baby a class product - "mass market". These foods are akin to fast food and all these inexpensive, bright labels will not bring anything good to the crumbs. Buy premium kitten food, or even better, super premium. For food of this level, the pet will definitely be grateful.

natural food

If you are trying to ensure that your kitten is accustomed to natural nutrition, you must adhere to certain conditions:

  1. The diet should be varied. If from an early age you do not accustom the animal to certain products, then it is unlikely that it will be possible to do this with age. For this reason, try to diversify the baby's food, offer different things - this will help make the baby omnivorous, will not turn him into a picky creature and will help ensure good nutrition.
  2. Do not feed your pet with pieces from your table. First of all, you are at great risk of raising an ever-meowing beggar, and secondly, it can harm a kitten, because human food contains a lot of spices and salt that are harmful to a young body.

What to feed a monthly kitten, except for the primary product - milk? You can feed the crumbs with cottage cheese. Only at first it is better to stir it with milk to a consistency similar to sour cream. Cottage cheese is a good source of calcium, which helps prevent the development of rickets.

The next product is chicken yolk (boiled protein can be given from 2 months). First, it also needs to be mixed with milk. Also, the kitten will benefit from the following products:

  • cereals on meat and milk broths;
  • boiled vegetables;
  • neutral (without spices) soups on the broth.

True, not every kitten enthusiastically pounces on such food. After all, though it is monthly, it is a predator. Meat products can be any. The main rule is that the meat should not be fatty, and any product for a kitten must first be boiled, and then chopped. Meat is cooked not for the convenience of eating it, but in order to prevent various diseases and infect the pet with helminths.

The kitten grows quite intensively, so his body needs a sufficient amount of minerals and vitamins. Consuming ordinary food, the baby does not always get the right amount of nutrients in full. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to add special vitamin complexes to the pet's food, which can be bought at any store that sells pet products. There are enough drugs of this kind on the market and you can always pick up something for your pet. You can also grow various useful herbs, for example, germinate wheat.

As already mentioned, diversify your diet. It is undesirable to feed the animal with one meat or one fish, or in general only porridge. By the way, it is not necessary to give fish often. It has been proven that frequent consumption of fish leads to inflammatory kidney disease. And if over time you decide to castrate the animal, then it is better to completely exclude fish from the menu. The nutrition of a kitten should be close to natural conditions, this also applies to the temperature regime. Do not give cold (from the freezer) and excessively hot foods. Pet food is not salted.

Remember that the baby must have access to water. This is especially important if the animal eats dry food, because in this case water consumption increases several times compared to normal conditions. Water should be fresh and clean, change it daily, and rinse an empty bowl with hot water or scald with boiling water.

Ready-made food for monthly kittens

Many different brands have gained popularity in the cat food market:

  • Hill's Science Plan;
  • from Eukanuba Junior Small Breed;
  • Royal canin size nutrition mini junior and many more.

Let's take a look at a few specific examples from the super premium cat food segment.

  1. Dry food Royal Canin for kittens

You must always remember that the premium class is the best feed among the worst representatives of the goods in this direction. And if the prefix “super” is not present on the package, this is already a strong argument to doubt the quality of the food presented. But you still need to be more objective. Let's first talk about the benefits of Royal Canin for kittens:

  • affordable pricing policy;
  • a wide variety of flavors;
  • availability for the buyer;
  • veterinary line.

You can see the current price of kitten food and buy it right here:

  1. The next representative is Akana's super premium food for kittens.

If we consider the advantages, then Akana is characterized by the following positive qualities:

  • balanced diet;
  • the absence of grain crops in the composition of the product;
  • no chemical dye.

The main disadvantages are a small variety of tastes and there are no preventive diets.

  1. Also worthy of mention is the food for a kitten 1 month old Almo Nature.

The origins of the popularity of the feed lie in the triple check of the quality of the product and the naturalness of the ingredients. In general, the Almo Natur food is close to the VIP class food in terms of overall quality. Indeed, in this Italian diet, chicken meat (as the basis of the product) and its derivatives occupy 53% of the total weight of the product. Another 14% goes to non-allergenic rice.

The main disadvantage of the presented product is a rather high price.

What should not be fed to a one-month-old kitten?

Great attention should be paid to the options and norms of nutrition for a small pet. After all, this is not an adult animal with a developed organism and its digestive organs are still in the development stage. Keep in mind that a lot depends on how well you feed your baby - even his life, so every caring owner should understand this.

Milk and meat

As for milk, it is better to take goat or dry milk, which is sold in specialized stores for animals. If you take dairy products as the basis of nutrition, then the animal is better suited for products with a low fat content.

A pet should not be fed raw meat; it contains worms and pathogenic microbes. And the baby's body will not cope well with such rough food.

monotonous food

The kitten does not need to be fed monotonous products. For example, give one fish or one cereal. This feeding option leads to the fact that the baby will receive an insufficient amount of useful minerals. And also, if a one-month-old kitten is not accustomed to a varied cuisine, in the future he will become very picky, which will cause certain difficulties.

Food from the table

The kitten does not need to be fed food from the table. It contains a lot of spices that are unnatural for the baby's body. It is harmful to give sausage and various smoked meats, and it does not matter what is included in their composition. The same applies to pickles, because all these products can be called food for people containing excess fats, salt and other components.

You can't give potatoes. And this applies to the root crop in general. It doesn't matter if it's a raw tuber, boiled or fried, remember - a kitten's stomach does not absorb potatoes.

Fatty food

A small pet absolutely does not need any food containing a lot of fat. Therefore, it is better not to give such products as: cheese, butter, fatty meat at first, but to feed the crumbs gradually.

  • Bones (bird, fish) - this is another harm to the feline as a whole.
  • Pork - this type of meat is completely unnecessary for kittens, it is not only useless, but also carries a potential threat.
  • Any food for dogs and puppies is not suitable for a baby kitten. In their composition, there are not at all the components that are required for the full growth of the crumbs.
  • It is better not to give the pet sweets, rich yeast rolls.
  • Do not forget one rule - you can not feed a kitten with different foods and mix natural food and ready-made food.

Mode and rate of feeding

If you do not take into account the feeding regimen, then you can figure out how many times you need to feed a kitten for 1 month on your own. To do this, you need to pay attention to how the baby behaves. The hungry animal begins to squeak, crawls, showing discontent with its whole appearance. Such a kitten must be fed according to certain standards. And one-month-old crumbs, left without maternal care, need to follow a certain diet. How many times should a month old kitten be fed?

Feeding regimen for monthly kittens:

  1. A baby up to two weeks should be fed 7 times a day. And the night time is also taken into account. Ideally, all 10 feeding sessions should be divided into equal intervals.
  2. Kittens living from two weeks to a month need food 6 times a day under similar conditions.
  3. A kitten of 1 month and above can be fed 5-6 times a day in small portions.

How much food should be given to a one month old kitten:

  1. From a week to two, the recommended rate is 30 ml per 100 grams of weight.
  2. From two to three weeks, the rate increases from 38 to 48 ml.
  3. A kitten from a month should be given food at the rate of 48-53 ml for the same 100 grams of weight.

Kitten 1 month care and feeding

Caring for a one-month-old kitten requires a special approach and care. You have already figured out how to feed the baby, but in addition to food, the baby needs care and warmth. Remember that taking care of a small pet is comparable to taking care of a small human child. The animal needs to be fed the right food and do it regularly.

In this case, you need to give the pet a certain freedom. Let him get used to the house, gradually study it. And if you like stroking and want to pat the baby - do it with tenderness and very carefully.

First breastfeeding

It is better to breastfeed a baby for the first time almost immediately after birth. In Russian hospitals, with a successful birth, the baby is handed over to the mother half an hour or an hour after birth. Only in extreme cases, when a woman is excessively weakened by childbirth, her child is in the intensive care unit, or was born as a result of a cesarean section, will the first feeding be postponed until the situation normalizes.

Immediately after the birth of the baby, there is still no milk in the breast. When squeezing the nipple, you can see drops of colostrum (this effect is also noticeable in the last weeks of pregnancy). Previously, it was believed that it was harmful to babies, so it was recommended that newborns be breastfed later, after the appearance of milk. Today, this practice has been abandoned, because the benefits of colostrum have been scientifically proven:

  • the digestive and genitourinary systems of the newborn have not yet adapted to the processing of milk, colostrum in the first hours of life is exactly what the baby needs so much, a few drops of liquid contain a high concentration of useful substances: immunostimulants, amino acids, minerals and many others;
  • the main advantage of colostrum is the high content of immune bodies, together with them the newborn receives powerful protection against infectious diseases, even a few drops can become a barrier to harmful microorganisms;
  • The nutritional value of colostrum is so high that even a meager amount can saturate a child.

Italian doctors conducted a study, as a result of which they found that babies who were fed colostrum immediately after birth lost less weight than those newborns who were fed an adapted milk formula!

How to apply a newborn to the breast?

It is very important to teach your baby to suckle correctly from the first feeding. A common mistake is that the baby captures only the nipple, as a result of which there is a high probability of cracking, feeding itself can cause pain to the mother. This can be easily avoided: you have to wait until the baby opens his mouth, and help him capture the entire areola. Be patient, you may not succeed on the first try.

It is improper attachment that is a common cause of mastitis and the formation of hard lumps of milk. Sometimes difficulties with attachment to the breast can be caused by the special shape of the nipples. If they are completely flat, there is a chance that the newborn will never adapt to drinking mother's milk. But do not despair, the situation is easy to fix: you just need to purchase special silicone pads. By the way, they should also be used if cracks form on the chest.

Inexperienced mothers often complain of "nibbled" breasts and incredible pain during feeding. Most often this is the result of errors in feeding. If nothing works out at all, you should take the help of more experienced mothers or midwives. And for the period of healing of cracks, silicone pads can be used during feeding, and after it, lubricate the nipples with bepanthen ointment and / or vitamin A. It helps!

The following tips will help you improve breastfeeding:

  • if from the first attempts you did not succeed - do not rush to give the newborn artificial nutrition;
  • observe the rest regimen - try not to do homework for the first weeks (if possible);
  • watch your diet, some foods can contribute to the indigestion of the child, in the summer you should refrain from eating red berries, in winter and in the offseason - citrus fruits;
  • drink plenty of fluids.

Feel free to seek help from older women if something is not working out for you. Relatives and acquaintances will gladly support the young mother with advice, and if necessary, they will help to clean the house or buy groceries.

Why is it so important for a baby to feed on mother's milk?

When you go to any supermarket or baby store, you will find that their shelves are full of beautiful jars of artificial nutrition. Dozens of different types, with spectacular advertising and beautiful, smiling babies ... Manufacturers list how many useful substances are in artificial milk, including minerals and vitamins, special dietary supplements ... Believe me, no one has come up with anything better than mother's milk. Only it is able to transfer the immunity of the mother, her hormones and antibodies to the newborn.

There are several reasons for breastfeeding:

  • balanced product with optimal composition;
  • it has been proven that antibodies are formed in breast milk against the pathogen that caused the child's illness;
  • the psychological connection between mother and baby is of great importance;
  • during breast sucking in the mother's body, the production of oxytocin is stimulated, which contributes to uterine contraction, which means accelerating the rehabilitation of the woman in labor.

During the feeding period, it is necessary to carefully take care of the breast. Wash it before putting on the baby, express the remaining milk, make sure that it is always clean and dry. Neglect of these rules may result in mastitis. Choose special nursing bras equipped with waterproof pads.

On schedule or on demand?

On the forums of young mothers, there are often heated discussions on the diet of a newborn. Usually the debate is about how best to feed the baby: on a schedule, every 3-4 hours, or “on demand”, focusing on the behavior of the crumbs. Consider the features of both options:

  • Scheduled. Immediately after the birth of the child, they are applied to the chest at certain hours, as a result of which, in a few days, he should form a daily routine. With most babies, this “trick” succeeds, but newborns come across who categorically refuse to stick to the established schedule. They are ready to scream for hours, demanding attention at any time, sleep poorly, become nervous and capricious.
  • On demand. Mom gives a breast when she notices that the baby is becoming restless, sucks her fists, pokes her mouth into the objects around him, trying to find a source of milk. With a competent approach, feeding on demand is not bad in itself, but the following often happens: mommy feeds the baby every half hour, as a result of which she does not rest at all, lactation decreases.

As you can see, each solution has its pros and cons. Therefore, you will have to focus not on the recommendations of acquaintances and girlfriends, books or specialized forums. Analyze your child's behavior. In the early days, give him a breast every 1.5-2 hours, from 7 days increase the periods between feedings to 2.5-3 hours. In no case do not allow the child to scream for a long time with a heart-rending cry, you see that he is hungry, give him a breast, even if the time has not yet come. After a couple of weeks, you will notice that the newborn has developed its own regimen.

Problems with lactation?

Every mother worries about whether her baby has enough milk. Indeed, it is difficult to determine the amount of food sucked by the baby. To do this, it is enough to go to the pediatrician and carry out a control feeding, weighing the crumbs before and after. If it turns out that the portion was excessively small, hypolactation (reduced production of mother's milk) can be suspected. Do not be nervous, the main thing is to calm down and take measures to correct the situation. Can help with this formulas and drinks for nursing mothers:

  • Femilak. A milk drink containing taurine and a complex of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
  • Olympic. Vitamin mixture based on soy protein.
  • Apilactin. Means with bee products - has a tonic effect and stimulates lactation.
