And in the Bulgarian Pamporovo. And later at home - in Russia in Dombay! Come share your impressions ✌️😉!

Despite the fact that my experience of visiting the Alps is a thing of bygone days, but the impressions are very much alive, so I will share everything that remains in my memory 😝

Austria is an expensive country. Currency - euro (get ready to spend); language - German (but in tourist places - spoken English - communication problems usually do not arise).

Just want to warn all lovers of ski resorts combined with slopes!!! Innsbruck is not like that!!! This sweetest medieval town founded in the thirteenth century, with a rich history, stunning architecture and an impressive cultural heritage.

It is located in a picturesque place in the west of the country, not far from the border with Germany on the banks of the Inn River and is surrounded on all sides by the majestic Alps.

By local, Austrian standards, Innsbruck is a large city - the capital of the Tyrrol region. But the population ... drum roll ... about 130 thousand people 😊, (due to tourists, of course, it decently increases during the season). By the standards of Mother Russia... maximum "district center" 😂 . Nevertheless, it is a major sports, industrial and cultural center of the country. No wonder he hosted the Winter Olympics - twice!!! It was true in the 60s and 70s.

In its vicinity, by the way, there is also a factory for the production of world-famous Swarovski crystals, and of course there is a museum.... but if you are a skier to the fullest, skip this information ✌️😉

    Let's talk about trails!!!

Fortunately, there are a large number of them in the vicinity of Innsbruck. And most importantly, they are of varying complexity. Picking up a descent in accordance with your level of training will not be difficult. From paddling pools with instructors to black slopes.

Just keep in mind, despite the generally accepted classification “by color”, from green to black .... these are completely different routes than, for example, in Bulgaria, and even more so in Russia.

First, try descending at least a step lower than your usual. Or you run the risk of skiing off the slope with skis or a board on your hump.... I've seen such 😂😂😂

Literally in every kiosk there are brochures for sale (though in English) with routes and maps of all the slopes of the region. Yes, and in decent hotels there are always such leaflets, albeit less informative.

But choosing this resort, you should understand that you will have to get to any of the routes by regular transport!!! From half an hour to 2-3 hours!!! Tiring I can tell you!!!

This is especially annoying when winter sports enthusiasts ride in this bus with their equipment. No, you won’t surprise anyone with bulky luggage here (most intercity buses even have special trunks for equipment). But hemorrhoids are certainly excellent! In connection with such movements, budget for additional expenses for transfers to the slopes. And Austria is not a cheap country at all. I'm not even going to try to figure out prices. My Alpine trip was quite a long time ago, everything flows, everything changes.

At the time of my visit to this wonderful resort, I had not yet acquired my own equipment. So the burden associated with its transportation bypassed me. But rental is not. By the way, the rental in the Alps is excellent!!! Excellent, not killed equipment. The Intersport rental and sales network is widespread there. Having registered at the first rental (taking all your measurements... height, weight, level, etc.), you can migrate along the routes of the region and not waste time on the daily selection of equipment - they immediately take out “your option”. Just make sure that the correct weight is set on the binding system - if you are a skier. I had an unpleasant case when the ski did not come unfastened in a certain situation ... well, the main thing was that everything worked out, and this is not a small part of my fault, of course - ALWAYS double-check !!!

Due to the remoteness of the tracks, it is not possible to roll back the vacation to the fullest. For example, I love it like this - I arrived, we squeeze the hours of rolling to the maximum! From the opening of the lifts to their closing with one lunch break. And then .... I got up while I had breakfast at the hotel and got ready - this is not very long, then until I got to the place, until I took the equipment, until I bought a ski pass (each route has its own, and the price tag too), .. .. ROCKING BACK.... then I handed over the equipment until I got to the hotel.... and for some routes you also need to change several buses. And the city is beautiful - I want to see it and take a walk .... as a result, the whole vacation is like a driven dog with its tongue over its shoulder.

In general, if you are a winter sports maniac, Innsbruck is too difficult option!!! This is not a classic ski resort!!!

But if you want to take a walk, breathe in the purest mountain air, enjoy the culture and architecture of the Austrian "metropolis" 😝, taste authentic dishes, and plan to go on local excursions (of which there are many), and of course, dedicate a day or two ... several hours for a couple of descents.... then welcome!!! This is a great option for all of the above concentrated in one great place!!!

Innsbruck is the cutest little town!!! It is a pleasure to take long walks in it !!! Firstly - stunning architecture against the backdrop of views of the majestic Alps. Significant places for the city are found at every step. Secondly, the mild and even warm climate pleases. The city is located in a lowland, protected from the wind by a mountain range and the temperature in it is coordinately different from that on the slopes. Thirdly - absolutely magical Christmas atmosphere. With small coffee shops and gingerbread, family restaurants and souvenir shops, idly staggering tourists and leisurely residents.

P.S. I don’t see the point in describing every attraction that can be found walking in the city. A lot of them!!! Plus, I don't know much about them. Posting photos - enjoy the views.

The location of the city is unique, it lies, as it were, in the very heart of a huge Alpine ski carousel: only one and a half to two hours drive separates it from such world-famous ski centers as Kitzbühel, San Anton, Ischgl, Lech. The season opens on December 18 and runs until April 4. If there is no snow (which is unlikely), you are guaranteed free skiing in the Stubai Glacier area.

5 ski areas, trails of various categories of difficulty with a total length of about 100 km, modern lifts of all types - these data already put Innsbruck among the most respectable Alpine ski regions.
Having moved on the ski bus across the river Inn, we will find ourselves in Hungerburg at the foot of the picturesque Havele circus, along which there are both relatively easy tracks and slopes of medium difficulty. At the end station of the cable car, at the level of 1900 m, we have to make a choice: either take the cable car to the beginning of the comfortable "blue" track, or move to Havelkar (2334 m), from where ski-tour lovers start along the cool "Karinne" route; skiers with sufficient experience should embark on this journey - the route is marked with the characteristic "extreme". There are several spacious comfortable slopes in the circus, among which there are two very interesting trails to the valley with a length of 3 and 4 km.
On the opposite slopes of the gorge there is a skiing area, closed from below by the town of Eagles, and from above by the peak of Patcherkofel (2247 m). From the valley to the level of 1953 m there is a powerful cable car. A competent, qualified public may well satisfy their passion for thrills on the 4.7 km Olympic track, and the less ambitious people will choose a completely simple, pleasant in all respects five-kilometer descent into the valley, on which even skiers with mediocre training feel confident; this track is ideal for those who profess the principle of "family" skiing.

No less interesting in terms of skiing is the neighboring mountain Glungetser (2677 m). The pre-top section is given to ski-tour lovers; the route runs from the upper station of the double chairlift through the saddle. A leisurely skier will appreciate the track from the top station of the tow bar "Tufenalm" that meets his expectations: 4.5 km of luxurious descent smoothly go into the valley. A lover of vigorous skiing will rather choose the FIS track with a length of 5 km.

Very comfortable slopes with well-groomed pistes can be found in the Mutterer Alm area (1610 m). Not far from the Muttereralm cable car, a calm 3.5 km long trail winds, accessible to the general public. But on the three-kilometer FIS track, it is better to get out to someone who has sufficient experience in alpine skiing.
To be in Innsbruck and not visit at least once the luxurious Lizum Circus, ideally suited for the most diverse skiing, means that you really don’t know what the ski Innsbruck is like. It was Lizum that absorbed the main Olympic tracks, both men's and women's. To skate a full circle on the local ski carousel, we will have to “wind” over 30 km of slopes of various quality and slope, from comfortable “blue” to risky and technically difficult “black”. In principle, a person hardened by our "wild" tracks will feel good in Lizum. The only exceptions are, perhaps, only two routes. Firstly, the "very black" slope, starting at the top of the Pleisen (2236 m) and finishing in Aksam: 6.5 km of energetic steep descent over difficult terrain requires solid skiing skills. Secondly, a thrill-seeker can go to the Birgitzkopfl (2098 m), where the "black" track of the male giant with a length of 3.5 km starts from the upper station of the road.

The scope of the Innsbruck ski carousel often includes such powerful ski areas as Seefeld and Stubai. The Stubai area, for example, has 80 km of pistes, some of which pass through glaciers and, therefore, provide spring-summer skiing.

In the Innsbruck area, there is a Super Skipass that provides access to 500 km of pistes in Innsbruck, Stubai, Kitzbühel and Arlberg.

Funicular Hungerburgbahn - a landmark of the capital of the Alps
The mountains have never been so close - from the center of Innsbruck to the tops of the surrounding mountains in just 20 minutes! Since 2007, the Tyrolean administrative center of the province of Innsbruck has provided numerous tourists and its own residents with a new entertainment: the Hungerburgbahn funicular. Now they have the opportunity to drive directly from the city center, which is 560 meters above sea level, to the high alpine landscape. The new Nordkettenbahnen system opens up new possibilities for viewing the natural landscape that was previously difficult to see.
The lower station of the Hungerburgbahn funicular is located at the Congress House in Innsbruck, approximately 200 meters away from the Old Town. There you can sit in one of two carriages 2.4 m wide and 17.7 m long. Each carriage is equipped with five glazed salons with a capacity of 26 people, which allow you to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. (The total capacity of the funicular is 130 people per trip. Innsbruck is the capital of the federal state of Tyrol and a major sports center with world Olympic glory.

The choice of Innsbruck to host the First Youth Winter Olympics 2012 was not accidental. Busy city framed high mountains, thanks to the Winter Olympics held here in 1964 and 1976, had at its disposal numerous sports complexes and facilities, excellently prepared ski slopes and excellent infrastructure. 9 ski areas, suitable for both skiing professionals and beginners, are combined into a single ski region Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck. Guests of the city and nearby resort villages can choose any ski area and get there on a comfortable free Skibus ski bus.

Innsbruck is perfect for tourists who want to combine skiing and sightseeing holidays, as well as for family holidays. Innsbruck has a large selection of cultural and historical attractions, there is an Alpine zoo, toboggan and ski slopes, children's ski schools, ski equipment rental.

Medieval Innsbruck will delight guests after skiing with a variety of après-ski offers: individual excursions around the city and its surroundings, Christmas markets (from November 16 to January 6), excellent shopping, bars, restaurants with traditional and European cuisine, casinos, theater performances.

    Ski features of Innsbruck

    • 90 lifts
    • 9 ski areas (Nordkette, Patscherkofel, Stubaier Gletscher, Mutterer Alm, Axamer Lizum, Rangger Köppfl, Glungezer, Kühtai, Schlick 2000), united by a single Olympia World Innsbruck ski pass
    • Total length of tracks - 300 km
    • The highest elevation - 3340 m (Stubai Glacier Stubaier Wildspitze)
    • Elevation difference - 2765 m

On the Nordkettenbahn city panoramic lift, you can go up to the Nordkette-Seegrube ski area, where the Nitro Skylinepark snow park is located with great view to Innsbruck. Here is a favorite meeting place not only for skiers and "mountain-beachers" taking sunbaths in sun loungers, but also for lovers of extreme entertainment. From the top of Hafelekar they will be able to try their hand at the steepest natural slope in Europe "Karrinne" (slope 70%), as well as ride off-piste on loose snow.

In the vicinity of Innsbruck there are several ski villages, among which the most famous is Igls (7 km from the city, height 870 m), located at the foot of Innsbruck's Olympic mountain Patcherkofel (height 2250 m). Not only during the day, but also at night, ski slopes are at the disposal of ski lovers, and all this thanks to floodlights. Skiing on Mount Patcherkofel is a great option for beginner skiers: a height difference of 1380 m, 8 lifts, 14 km of mountain and 18 km of flat slopes, as well as a lot of secondary infrastructure (curling, skating rink, horseback riding, walking routes, Olympic luge and bobsleigh track prepared toboggan run, bars and restaurants in the village). Children are also welcome at the resort: the best instructors will look after them in the Kinderland ski paddling pool. By the way, children under 10 years old, accompanied by an adult and with the purchase of a day ski pass, ski for free.

From the observation deck Top of Tyrol at the top of the Stubai Glacier (Stubaier Gletscher) you can take a look at 109 three-thousanders at a glance and admire eternal ice. Here, at an altitude of more than 3000 meters, the largest glacial skiing area in Austria extends. 110 km of slopes and 25 lifts and elevators are waiting for their guests. The Moreboards Stubai Zoo Snow Park is recognized as one of the most advanced snow parks in Europe.

The suburban resorts also include Seefeld (25 km from Innsbruck), around which there are flat ski slopes. Seefeld is suitable for a relaxing holiday for older people who, by age, are not suitable for extravaganzas on the mountain slopes. There will also be something to do in your free time from skiing: tennis, restaurants, bars, expensive shops, casinos, paragliding, etc. The ski slopes in Seefeld are gentle, suitable for comfortable skiing for beginners, as well as for cross-country skiers.
